This app is excellent in every aspect! It offers engaging topics, flexible display options, and clear, real-human voice recordings. The built-in dictionary is incredibly useful, and the vocabulary support is well-organized. Highly recommended! 这款日语阅读工具非常出色!内容丰富有趣,显示设置灵活,真人发音清晰自然。内置词典功能非常实用,词汇支持也非常完善。强烈推荐!

Sometimes I use this app while working out and would love for it to have an auto scrolling feature while it’s playing audio

I wish I'd found Satori Reader years ago! This is soooo helpful and well-designed. My intermediate Japanese level reading stalled out for years because it's so hard to master all 2000 Kanji without a full-time training course and lots of free time :((( But this strategy that they've created really works well for me -- I'm learning a lot of kanji & vocab fast using the website on my laptop & tablet. And the audio & voices are so professional! Very fun. Very reasonable monthly price too. Love it! 5 Stars!

Great app!

I am learning so much from these stories. I use it daily. This has helped my Japanese more than any other app. I have one suggestion. I have almost learned 3000 new cards. Before that I had a little over 2000 and decided to erase my progress and start over. I wish there were a way to restart a word that has aleady been learned which no longer appears in the rotation. Sometimes, I encounter a word that I learned a year ago, but now I have forgotten it. I would like to re-start a word with the new context. If I just add the new context, that does not make it reappear in the rotation if the word has already been learned.

Lots of content, good tools

If you’re learning Japanese AND into gay romance, this is the app for you.

Excellent for immersing yourself in natural Japanese

I’ve been using this app nearly every day for a little over 6 months and some of the words and phrases I’ve come across in the stories on Satori have popped up in my Japanese conversations! Also, it works really well in conjunction with WaniKani. I really enjoy the episodes with voice and sound effects. The voice actors have done amazing work. The fact that every single word and phrase has been annotated with detailed explanations is my favorite aspect of this app. I read other things in Japanese too, but they don’t have the benefit of these annotations. I also appreciate that each episode has its own discussion area. I often read through those to get further insight on some of the more difficult areas of an episode. I can only recommend this app to anyone learning Japanese. Even if the stories are difficult at first, often, they get easier a few episodes in as you learn the associated vocabulary. If not, there are many others to choose from. I’ve noticed that if you start with the easier ones that some of the same words and phrases will pop up again in other stories that are labeled as intermediate or harder.

Hands down the best

This has the best audio, transcriptions, and tooling of the ~10 apps I’ve used so far. Satori and Wanikani are the cornerstones of my N4 study routine and I don’t know what I would do without them!

Perfect For bridging the gap between classroom and real life

This app is perfect if you just finished a Japanese class at school or a Duolingo course. I often found it hard to go straight into real life materials like anime or video games coming from a academic setting. But this app does a great job of getting you over that hump with lots of interesting materials that are all fully translated and annotated that you can go through over and over at your own pace and learn from.

Love this app!

I use a lot of different resources in my ongoing effort to learn Japanese and this one, in particular, is one of the best I’ve found. You have the option to try reading stories on your own, with English translations at your fingertips, if you’re at that level. If not, there are lots of grammar lessons available in bite size chunks. That alone makes the app worth it but there’s also a discussion section for each lesson and the instructors are very responsive and helpful.

My take on Satori Reader.

Hi Brian and cohorts! I have taken a long break from Satori (I kid of finished at the time) but kept my membership because of my admiration for your enterprise and because I knew new stories were coming. I have a technical point to make. I have looked at lots of youtubes and I am used to toggling the lesson on and off when I need time. I find it clunky to get to a new episode and then have to scroll to the bottom to start. (I don't want it to give me the nonstop version offered at the top. Maybe later, or in the car.) Then, if I want to stop, I have to stroll to the bottom of the episode then back up to look at the sentence then back down to start again. Then it starts before I can stroll back up the page and find my place. I seem to remember this function being more accessible before? I usually listen a couple of times before I look at the text, but when I go back for analysis I don't want to fuss with stop and start. At the end of my analysis I want to listen again with no gray spots at all in the flow of words. Anyway, congrats on staying with it. That's why I've stayed with all of you!
