Schengen Days Calculator

So, I been using this App for three years now. It has been simple to use and keeps an excellent accessible record of one visits to the EU. It took a friendly prompt from the developers to show me how to exempt the Visa days from the calculations or days left. No need for any other app and so much easier than wading through my passport stamps. Thank you. (Will you be able to upgrade to putting a notification on the home/front screen of days left. More relevant than most notifications we get.)

This is quite simply the best Schengen app we have tried (V1.23), consistently giving the same results for our travel scenarios as the EU Commission calculator. We travel in the EU less than 6 months in 12 months, but have multiple long trips from March to October. This means we get close to busting the 90/180 threshold by Q4 so it is important that the ‘accrual’ from earlier trips is taken into account correctly as permitted days during later trips. Not all apps handle this complexity properly. Its also a real bonus being able to record the country and travel notes for each trip. Thank you!

I’ve tried many Schengen apps and this is hands down the most straightforward and accurate app out there.

Update: The developer was very responsive and has apparently addressed the flaw noted below. However, as the app is apparently due to become a paid app on the next release, I don’t see any reason to test it again while there are other apps with identical functionality which are still free. As an aside, the advertising - on an app used for a few minutes once or twice a month or less - could hardly be classed as intrusive. I have spent a lot of time trying to work out whether the app is miscalculating or I am, but I now realise that for any given date of entry, it fails to add subsequently “expiring” days in the Schengen zone to the “Days left” total. The results it returns are at therefore odds with the results on entering the same data into the official EU calculator (and other apps). I have had some correspondence with the developer and it seems that this basic step in the calculation has been overlooked. The upshot is that if you travel regularly into the Schengen zone you will not be able to rely on this app for a correct calculation of how many days you can stay, which is about as basic a flaw as you could imagine.

Let’s get the usual comment done first; this app calculates days in the Schengen zone correctly according to the official site, at least for the 5 trips I tested. The apparently simple 90/180 is brain stretching in practice, so understandable that some get confused. Mods I’d like…. dump the screen estate guzzler “If you enter on” perhaps making it a default that can be switched off; feature useless for me. Provide ability to save data, iCloud at least, and re-import obviously. The trip exit date should default to the same month as entry or perhaps a configureable offset away, not “today” which leads to excess clicking. Paid app… OK if reasonable but subscription will cause the app to be deleted. Nice layout of information. Looks promising.
