SmartSDR™ FlexRadio Systems®

As a long time Flex user I have enjoyed my 6300 and then my 6600 for years. But have recently lost interest. But after downloading and remembing how great it is to use my Mac for ham radio, I feel in love with it all over again. All due to Marcus's hard work, the Flex radio is FUN to use again. I especially enjoy the built in logging and FT8 integration. If you are are a MAC and Flex user BUY this app, you will not regret it.

Marcus creates apps that are out of this world amazing. He learns the need and provides an app that meets and exceeds the user expectations. Plus his support and upgrades are the best in the industry. Hard to say that about very many app developers today. I highly recommemd this app, his ios apps and the SDR Control for ICOM. They are worth every penny and make using these radios a great experience. Thank you Marcus!!

I use SmartSDR for MacOS and is working perfectly for me. This Mac version adds additional functionality like automatic FT4/8 processing, which is quite nice. Marcus has also set up SmartSDR for Mac to control the TGXL and PGXL remotely if you need this functionality. If you’re like me and adverse to Windows in general, seriously consider using SmartSDR for the Mac. Bottom line - this Mac application is well worth the money.

SmartSDR for the Mac is a dream come true. If you already use a PC then you'll need a bit of time to reorient yourself as to where things are located. But it all makes sense. The inclusion of FT8/FT4 with logging is the bees knees. I have two feature wishes: 1. include a CW Decoder 2. Show state abbreviation in WSJT mode FT8/FT4 somewhat like JTAlert does. This would be very helpful.

I recently reinstalled SSDR for MacOS on a new M1 iMac and it is a breath of fresh air. Audio buffer underruns = nope Perfectly clear, consistently solid audio with default settings. Works fantastic with AirPods Pro. User-customizable key bindings are spectacular.

Rarely do you come across native Mac software that is as good if not better than it's Windows counterpart. Well done.

I've been using SSDR for iOS since it's introduction, and found the software to be intuitive, easy to use, and performs well. All of this has translated into the macOS version. It's a very visually appealing app on my aging 7 year old Macbook Air, and runs without issue. A testimant to the programmer's capabliities. My issue is that this is a $160 desktop class app that provides mostly iOS levels of functionality. Firstly, the lack of a native DAX solution, of which the reccomendation to fix is an additional $100 piece of software from Rogue Amoeba. Keep in mind that this is just traditional DAX audio channels, and does not inlude any ability to get IQ audio from the radio. CAT solutions are limited to two connections at once. After tax, we're near $300 in to get something close, but not near the same level as SSDR for Windows. It's a hard sell. If you're an SSB or CW kinda guy, it's a wonderful soloution. If you're more into digital stuff, and want to do someting/anything other than the built-in FT8 solution, just be aware of the lack of IQ and CAT limitations and added cost for external software to make it happen.
