Pleasantly surprised
I’m not going to lie, I’ve always been pretty skeptical of chatbots or anything AI-assisted when it comes to applications to mental health. I came across Sonia on a reddit forum recently and tons of people had agreed saying it was helpful for them when it came to anxiety/other mental health struggles, so I figured I would give it a shot.
I mean, wow. I’m pleasantly surprised. During my first session with Sonia, we got into some of my past trauma & strategies to re-direct my thinking patterns, and I have to say I was drawn in. Like, it was genuinely more helpful than some actual therapists I’ve spoken to in person.
Will definitely be giving it a shot, at least for the time being. Sonia is really on to something.
Server overload
Keeps doing this mid session. Cannot offer any solution, lacking comprehension. Anything slightly thoughtful would crash the app and hard to recover.
Supplemental at best
This app is like multi-vitamins…
In no way a substitute for a licensed (human) mental health provider/ physician.

Highly recommend this app for an easy and effective way to express your thoughts/feelings in a safe space, and receive helpful feedback & guided exercises in order to better manage your mental.

I got this app from a reddit comment I saw on a forum. I want to say I'm blown away by how responsive Sonia is, but I've run into a bit of a bug. I had an alarm go off during my first session. After I snoozed the alarm, I was unable to continue the session. All the buttons on the app were unresponsive. I closed out of the app and saw that I had a session, but I was unable to continue where I left off. I started another session. It was going well until the same thing happened. An alarm went off and made it impossible to finish the session. I'm going to try a third time to hopefully start and finish a session, making sure there are no alarms set to go off. I truly can see this app taking off, but I still want to make it through a full session first before giving a more detailed review.
From skeptic to evangelist
I thought it was just another AI wrapper and didn’t expect it to be helpful. Although the ui is not the best I used it once and it blew my mind. Despite trying to distract sonia, she helped me navigate my emotions and gave me targeted, practical advice im still using to this day!
The advice is: Pause and reflect, when I think someone doesn’t like me. I read too deeply into people’s nonverbal communication and think they don’t like me. With Sonia, I learned to pause and think of alternative ways to explain what the people are thinking.
Now I find myself more relaxed and worry less about nonverbal cues because I’m used to reflecting on different ways to explain the situation.
The next best thing!
I was introduced to Sonia by a connection from linkedin. And I tried out the app and I must say I really enjoyed my experience with the app! The app is well designed and easy to use as well! I don’t exactly have much to add or give as feedback other than it’s amazing! Truly love the idea behind using AI to help create a better environment for individuals to get vulnerable and let their emotions out.
Best convenient option
I think Sonia is a great way to reflect and you can easily guide the AI to provide the type of support you need.
I do wish there were more features/ I could have a better overview of my past session. I also find it a little difficult to navigate how much time I’ve spent on the session and would love to see a feature that displays that.
