Sophos Authenticator

I’ve just restored my new phone from a backup of the old one, and the app lost all of the codes. User interface is also worse than Google Authenticator, and lags a lot.

On my old iphone this was a good app, but when I bought a new iphone I was in trouble, the app ceased to work. There is nothing on the Sophos website, no help at all. Unless you keep all the once only codes or copy the QR codes then the app is useless on a new phone. I had to put my sim into my old phone to get the authentication which is absurd. For Google get Google authenticator for other purposes then Authy has got good reviews. But be very careful with these apps, you are entering into a world of extreme security.

Naturally Microsoft are now encouraging the use of their own app for their accounts. But I'd recommended this one, it's simpler and faster to set up and use. Admittedly the interface isn't as clean as Google Auth, but it's still a 5 star authenticator.

I thought I would change my password, just to keep secure, simple I thought, an hour later and I'm still trying. The problem is I had the Google authentication app, used it before so no big deal, only this time I'm asked to use an email and key, what key?? So not knowing that I tried to scan the barcode, the problem is how can I scan a code when the barcode is on the device I'm supposed to scan? I thought I would be clever and took a picture of the code on my tablet then scanned the barcode with my phone, great, know it presents me with a six digit key, great, how do I get back to enter the key? I have no idea, ridiculous, I gave up. I thought I would give the sophos app a go, guess what it's exactly the same process, neither of these apps give any coherent instructions on how to use them, so how am I supposed to stay secure if I can't use these ridiculous security apps? Very frustrating and worrying.

Everything I needed. Although perhaps the addition of allowing copying and pasting of the code may be helpful

Alle eingerichteten Zugangcodes sind weg, wenn man zu einem neuen iPhone migriert. Das ist sehr ärgerlich, vor Allem, wenn man das alte schon gelöscht hat. Dann kommt man kaum noch an die Systeme ran. Mindestens bei der App „Network Tools“ wurden die OTP Token übernommen.

Eine super App. Einfach und trotzdem fehlt die Möglichkeit eines Schutzes durch PIN oder Face-ID.

Alles passt man braucht keine Watch App

The app does what it should, but you lose track of tens of accounts and scrolls endlessly. A search function for selecting would be great. It should also be possible to view the OTP details like account, key etc.

The App itself is simple and easy to use. As long as you have just a few contacts. Unfortunately it’s really confusing when there are more and more accounts … It would be very helpful when there is a possibility to organize the Accounts and maybe some kind of editable Icon would be a good idea … Just to get some visual guidance. And if Sophos reads this and give us some help it’s a five star App!
