Originally designed to be a replacement for a student's spelling notebook which lists words to be learnt for school each week. Unlike a paper notebook, SpellingNotebook can speak each of the words to enable testing and practice without seeing the written word. SpellingNotebook contains a full searchable spelling dictionary so that words can be added directly to the student's word list, minimizing entry errors.

* Keep multiple word lists
* Edit word lists: add or delete words, add or delete an entire word list, rename your list
* Import words from one wordlist into another

* Help available in app to guide and support

The built-in spelling dictionary is automatically selected by region. For countries outside US, Canada, Australia and NZ, the UK spelling dictionary is selected.
Note that recording your words on iPod touch models prior to the 4th generation requires an external microphone. The record button will prompt you if Spelling Notebook detects that no microphone is available.

It’s very good
First its a very good learning experience you can look up words in the dictionary and have test, wordlists there’s help to and you can edit to.The only let down is you have to pay to get a bigger word list but that’s ok don’t waste money because you can make way more wordlists so I would call it five stars.

Perfect for spelling tests
I never study and then I got his now I love practicing for my spelling test.
BIG oversight…some parts useless.
This has potential for being a really great app. Easy to add words and they are pronounced correctly. BUT… you cannot be tested on it without seeing the word! So that part is unfortunately completely useless. ***There needs to be an area where you can HEAR the word and then type it. Currently they SHOW the word then you type it with it right there in front of you.***** Also there needs to be an area that audibly SPELLS the word for your child - that would be helpful as well! Please consider these revisions… this app truly has great potential!!
Good for studying
Its great the only problem is the inputing the words. Long list like mine at best would take long amounts of time. It would be best if there were some kind of document scan to easily input words.
Works exactly as it says
Been a great app for my kids to practice weekly spelling list from school. They practice a few times and then take tests before taking school test. This app has freed me (parent) from dictating the words.
Excellent spelling app
I’m surprised this app didn’t have more five stars than it did. It’s a talking teacher!
