Really great resource when exploring a new city
I downloaded this app while I was researching my trip to Budapest in 2019 - super impressed. It took me to places in the city I would never have visited just by researching online. All these “top 10 things to do” and all sponsored anyway... this app gives you access to people who love their city and their spots. Will be using it on all my next trips!
The experience finder
I love experiences more than sites when travelling and spottedbylocals has helped me experience hidden gems in Europe and North America I'm sure many locals don't even know about. The offline maps are a real money-saver, too.

Updating my review since the app is totally changed since the last time I tried it. It's nice to have a local guidebook on your phone, taking you to places you might never discover.

Absolutely awesome app. I've used it whenever I can while traveling and it's never let me down. The hidden gems the locals add to this guide is almost all worth visiting. The places we've found through the app always end up being the highlight of the trip. My only wish would be that there were more locals/cities :-)
Problems with updating !!!
I have problems after updating the app. The update will not finish, and it is not possible to open the app anymore :( Not working on my iPhone 6 plus :(
Great concept
This cityguide brings something fresh, it is based on articles written by locals, there is no ad money or promotion type angle involved, just ordinary people that know their city well writing articles about their favorite spots. The articles are descriptive enough for anyone find something that suits their taste. Tried it in 4 cities, and it has helped my find local gems that I otherwise would have missed. If you are a fan of good restaurants, pubcrawls and travel... Then get this app.
Doesn't work!
I downloaded the app, then tried to buy the Berlin guide. I have not managed to buy it yet, keep getting a message that says there is no connection to the app store. I have bought several other apps in between so I know it works. Tried to post a message on Facebook, but no response... Not impressed at all.
doesn’t have anything for Dallas
Dallas is a major city how is there nothing for big D. delete this trash app from the app store
The best travel app!
Spotted by locals is a must for any traveler. It enhances any trip. I have used it in several European cities and with a GPS & recommendations from local residents that are not touristy it is the best!! Also very reasonable. I’m about to go to Copenhagen and just bought my guide!
