stayconnect® remote

Aug 2024, Grand Hyatt Wash DC… This did what the App Store description said it would do, seamlessly in our case. What benefit it provides in lieu of the TV remote, I haven’t a clue 🤷‍♂️. Feels like a waste of time. The only problem we encountered is that Hyatt gives guests the impression you can ‘cast’ with this app…you can’t. Hyatt also utilizes Google Chromecast and unfortunately, on this evening, it isn’t connecting.

Doesn’t work

We stayed at an expensive hotel in Nashville. The app had us running in circles and it didn’t work. I thought it was us but then I saw the horrible reviews. GARBAGE!

It turns your phone into a remote. If the hotel happens to have a google chrome cast you might be able to do more but my hotel didn’t have that.

Either the hotel TV or this app (or both) is lying. Misleading people to think they will be able to use chrome cast essentially. I wish they just didn’t have this feature at all because then it wouldn’t waste our time setting it up only to realize it’s not what we thought. TLDR: Not able to cast your own media using this app.

I didn’t use the remote features, but I did easily cast content from my streaming apps to the hotel room TV (great!). To cast simply open your streaming app of choice (Netflix, etc), hit the cast button but select “Chromecast” (not Airplay).

Could not connect to any channels associated to the app. Keep receiving “message scrambled or weak service.” Don’t waste your time!

Pretty pointless as you need a tv remote to connect to the app which is a more limited remote. The reviewers saying it helps cast would be able to cast without the app. My hotel has the tv on another network other than the guest network. The hotel probably doesn’t want casting because they want you to buy on demand movies so the pit a worthless app on the tv to make you think the issue is the app.

I followed their instructions and was able to watch Prime, Tubi and Netflix on my hotel tv. The tv has to be set up to recognize Stayconnect. Performed flawlessly.

What ??!! I have down load an app to change the TV input!! What a private data sucking piece of complete waste of time !! This app shouldn’t even exist !
