Tape It - Pro Audio Recorder

I’ve had this app for about 4/5 months now and it’s great - audio quality is so much better than other apps, it’s easy to use - I love organising my ideas into Mixtapes for easier access and also love the recent playback functionality where I can shuffle all my tracks I had some difficulty porting some files over when recently upgrading my phone so reached out to their support who where just brilliant - solved my problem the same day and were so supportive. Can’t recommend this app enough if you’re a musician wanting some way of recording and cataloging your music it’s an absolute no brainer - plus they regularly update functionality based on customer feedback.

Gave the app another go after initially being unable to download/access due to a server outage on the part of the developer. Lay out and fucntionality are well thought through and relatively intuitive. Much easier to organise and quickly visual assess files as compared to Apple's voice notes app. The game changer is the ability to record in stereo given Tape It engages both of the phone's mics, huge difference in sound quality. The only 2 features I would have expected that aren't present 1) you can't zoom in on waveforms for more detailed marker placement 2) you can't crop tapes. Price seems fair for what you get if you'll actually integrate it to your workflow.

The app is stalling for me at the initial sign in page. Have restarted reinstalled app and restarted the phone but to dice. Also the app’s website appears to be down so no dev support. Shame as it looked very useful.

The app is great, I love the user interface and the audio recording quality is brilliant. One gripe is that the app keeps asking me to purchase Pro when I already have! I paid for a lifetime Pro subscription but it keeps popping up! So annoying! But the support team responded to my email in a couple of hours working on a fix. Hopefully it gets sorted but either way, great work.

I have tried this app for a while based on a Tape Notes podcast recommendation but will be going back to voice memos for one simple reason. It sounds super trivial, but I just wish the record and tapes pages were combined like they are in voice memos. I really don’t like how I have to record something, then go to a separate page to edit/change file name etc, then go to another page to record again. It’s just a bunch of unnecessary button presses. Why can’t I just record on the list page like voice memos? Also why can’t you replace audio like you can in voice memos? Honestly I think most other things about this app are better than voice memos, and if these two things were addressed I’d use it, but it’s just so annoying having to flip back and forth between the record and tapes pages constantly!!!

£90? I can buy a first class effects app here for £5.99 and a fabulous synthesiser for £12.99. This is good yet give it away please or charge £6.99 lifetime purchase.

5* free app if there was the option to instantly overdub/overwrite a recording instead of having to make a new recording every take and then delete old takes. Also would mean I could name a file then record over its content without having to add the notes/title to a new file. Overdubbing is probably my most important feature in Voice recorder for me because I’ll record and idea and then practise a bit and want to get a cleaner version down.

I’ve only used Tape It a couple of times so far, both for outside recordings (a fairground and church bells) and so far I’m really impressed. I was especially pleased that it’s so easy to use Airdrop to transfer files to my Mac. I’m a musician so looking forward to using this to capture ideas quickly - and the fact I can add a widget to my Lock Screen for instant access is fantastically useful. Using an iPhone 14, the stereo recordings have real body as well as clarity. Nice work.
