Using Tabledit on a MacBook Pro and Tefpad on an iPad for several years. Just could not manage without them. Support from the authors is excellent. Great job!

I bought this to import Guitar Pro files. This functionality works to a certain extent but with many errors. The triplets were replaced with quavers (deleting one of the triplet notes) and standard repeat barlines were deleted and replaced with segno symbols (which seem to be impossible to delete). On trying to correct the triplets, I discovered that “off” sometimes means “on” in the triplet button in the toolbar. I tried creating a tab from scratch too and this was better, but still some of the button functions were inconsistant. I think I would have got there eventually but it took me an hour just to do a couple of bars of music so not worth the effort. If you are prepared to put in the time and can overcome the frustrating interface then you could produce a tab eventually. On the plus side, print formatting for tabs is the best you can get on iPad.

First, had I known you can only write 12 bars in this app I would not have bought it. The program is not intuitive at all, I spent half an hour trying to get the program to do triplets with no avail. The help notes are mainly bias towards pc and doesn’t say much in the way of iPad info. Not for me

I use it to recopy and personalize banjo tabs I get from the Web. And yesterday my son's guitar teacher gave him a handwritten notation score for Malagueña to learn. It wasn't perfectly legible so I rewrote it on TEFpad using tab and from that printed a nice, neat notation score for him to use. My son's trying to write his own music on it now! I saw that someone else left a bad review because they didn't understand how automatic rests work. TEFpad doesn't try to enter the rests for you. TEFpad displays the rests deduced from the position and duration of the notes in each measure in the notation. These "automatic rests" provide an effective method of verifying note entry within the score. If such a rest is displayed, it means there is a problem with the note placement or duration. When the measure is complete, no automatic rest is displayed.

This unsung little app is ace. I am a music industry professional and it ticks all the boxes for me. Recently I scored/tabbed a bass part, went to pdf and Dropboxed to client - all from Costa..... Also - uncovered a small bug. Emailed Matthieu who replied immediately and fixed with an update within hours. If only the other software devs I deal with behaved in the same way...... Highly recommended.

I have used several score writing programs since the 1980s and my notation program of choice for years has been Sibelius. After an unwanted, but necessary, wipe and reinstall of my computer's drive I am without Sibelius and since I was looking for something I can use on my iPad I thought I would give TEFPad a try. I have spent an hour with TEFPad and am quite impressed with what it does. I can see that I can use it as a notepad for ideas. For the price it is nicely implemented. It won't replace a professional (and much more expensive) solution in the long term, but it is certainly a workable option and I expect to keep it on my iPad for the foreseeable future. Good job. Update to original review below. Emailed support and they gave prompt reply. Answer is that when you have a file open and want to save with a different name, go to open new file icon and you will then be able to rename the currently open file. Very good support. Thank you. Original review After latest update it is now not possible to do a "save as" and rename the file. Automatically overwrites original.

This is a god app, but be aware that it has some bugs. I hit a bug where it was inserting a double bar that I could not remove by any means. I contacted the developers, but they ignored my email. That's the reason why it only gets 3 stars. Being ignored is not an acceptable level of technical support. I also hit another bug when I tried to reverse the tablature (French to Italian). I didn't bother to report this one because, well, what's the point if the developer isn't responding? I think this app is still OK for casual use, but don't try to use it for typesetting tabs for publication. Also be prepared for bugs and no technical support if it all goes wrong.

I really can’t believe how good this software is! The developer has managed to create tabbing/notation software of great sophistication, and so far I haven’t wanted to do anything with it that I haven’t found a way to do. Far more feature rich for a guitarist than Guitar Pro and Progression/Notion for iPad, in my opinion. VERY intuitive and quick to enter tabs once you find your way around it. To be honest, I’ve been really shocked by how effective this app is. I think it somehow plays tabs back with much more life and musicality that the other programs for tabbing. I’m not sure how it does this, but that is what my experience has been. Highly recommended, and incredible value for money.
