Best TTS app for PDF hands down.

Hard to listen to

Amazing app as it has a lot of customisable settings for the reader, and a relatively clear voice (non premium).

I’m using the app to help me learn French and find (at least) one voice to be very suitable with natural sounding intonation. It's an excellent feature to be able to slow down the reading speed. However, the word tracking wasn’t keeping up with the voice when reading documents scanned to PDFs. I found the word tracking distracting in any case. I contacted Bret, the developer, and received a swift response asking for details. Just a couple of days later Bret added an option to disable real-time word highlighting. (Press the button with the 3 horizontal dots. You should see an option to toggle word highlighting on or off.) Well done!

I very much like that I can store documents in folders, I can use it on both my Mac and iPad and a subscription doesn’t cost an arm and a leg as with some TTS readers.

it does have ads and the voices aren't the most natural sounding but the ad's are short and the voices get the job done, considering you can use it unlimited for free (just have to sit through a very short ad) i love it!

I have really enjoyed using TTS in the last few weeks to help me get through some readings for University. Not just readings but so far in a month I have "read" two text books that have been sitting on my shleves for years. I really like that TTS can accept a PDF to read, but it's presented as the original PDF is submitted - it doesn't OCR is and turn it into a messy text document with no formatting. Makes it very easy to read along with. Or as I have been doing - have TTS "read" on my Mac while following along and making notes on the original PDF on my iPad. I'd like it to have Folders to help organise things - I can see it getting a bit messy to find things later but only because I will be using it so much.

The AI powered voices are pretty good and have some nice options. Biggest drawback is inability to scan hard copy text with your phone and convert it into something the app can read. This was the dealbreaker for me.

App continually stops reading. Only sometimes will closing the app and restarting work. This is a major disruption when reading. I’m on the lookout for something better.

I paid to upgrade to use the AI voices – which do sound great – but unfortunately, due to a continuous “unknown error “I couldn’t get it to work for me again

I upgraded to the paid version of this app to use the page-cropping function, so I could read papers while cropping out footnotes etc. I find though that this function only works about 60% of the time. Even when I manually crop out footnotes, the reader often still reads them. Very frustrating! Makes it nearly useless. App developers: Please fix!
