Not the easiet app to navigate- extremely poor support with any issues only interested in your money
App is still new and I like the selection of recipes, most are all easy to follow and budget friendly. Unfortunately the ai generated photos really put me off the food. For tracking calories I really don’t recommend the app I do find it combersome with the search that I can’t search my own recipes that I’ve added. I struggle with reading and personally I don’t love the search function it’s a bit hard to narrow down what I’m looking for and would be nice if there was a better visual of the list alternate background colours(better contrast)/ emojis/ photographs next to ingredients rather than just a line as there is a lot of information for each item. There’s a lot of basic ingredients that aren’t on the app that I would expect to be on. When adding in your own recipes would be good to add your own photograph and if you could just search for your own recipes, and even possibly the opportunity to make the recipe public to share with other users . When adding an item to the planner I wish you could edit the quantities and meal, without having to delete and re-add the item again. When it comes to recording weight, I have a smart scale that I use everyday and it’ll update the apple health app to track trends. Disappointing that the fitness chef app doesn’t use my weight measurements from the health app when they are already transferring data on my step count feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Overall I don’t feel like the app is worth paying the subscription, plenty of apps out there that do a better job
Did a free trial of this but found it no better than my fitness pal which is free. Was then charged after first year. Thought I’d cancelled it so emailed 3 times to ask for support & to check if I had cancelled my subscription but nobody ever got back to me. Very disappointed as would have at least expected a reply. Even if it was to say I was mistaken.
Love the diet concept having tired of SW, Ww etc with their rules and syns etc. very disappointing that this doesn’t sync with Apple health and that for excercise that is not steps there are limited options for recording. Recipes are quite good though. Seem to be some missing basic ingredients on the food list. Will stick with it for the time being but would love some more content
I have given the team a good chance to get back to me, couple of emails and emailed on socials. I don’t appreciate being ignored, and my money is tight as it is. When I cancelled the subscription and deleted the app, I assumed I wouldn’t get charged. I didn’t see any benefit in the app beyond what my fitness pal offers. Fitness chef, just stick to the runny insta posts, they are hilarious
I love the app in general and downloaded it initially because I love the fitness chef’s whole ethos. However, after tracking for a whole week I lost my flow when trying to input my updated weight measurement, as I can only input this in kgs, and not st & lbs. I have dyscalculia and therefore struggle with numbers. So as I’ve always understood and used stones and lbs, kilos means nothing to me. Unfortunately, not being able to add my progress was enough for me to just lose all momentum. I had reported this issue 3-4 weeks ago, but it still hasn’t been fixed, and so I have ended up back using MyFitnessPal again :(
Writing a 1 star review having tried three times over a month long period to get a response from customer support with only an automated reply. Following the 14 day free trial I wished to cancel as the app was glitchy, clunky and not of use to me. I tried to cancel it via the app store/subscriptions on my iPhone but there was no facility for this. The subscription is set up in a very bizarre way that doesn’t use the usual method. I only used the app for the first few days of the trial and haven't done so since. No reply to 3 emails yet receive pushy emails soliciting positive reviews on the App Store. Love Graeme’s content on Instagram but the poor customer service for this app and completely lack of transparency in regards to the free trial and subsequent billing. I’m £40 out of pocket and can see from other review that I’m not the only one to be duped in this way.
Like the intent but not a seamless user experience….overall visuals and contrast are difficult to use & read. Please can we have copy over functionality for previous days. I also get quite a lot of bar code errors when trying to scan items. It seems to be problematic to edit an entry and I cant get my garmin or weight data to link…..basic features which just need to be right….. on the plus side, I do like the recipes.
Been using consistently since release day and overall it is a good app. Needs some improvements however would expect as it develops these will come. Good- A lot of handy recipes included with pictures to give inspiration. Would be good to have more vegetarian / vegan options but I’ve enjoyed it so far Easy to use and I like being able to track daily / weekly calories / steps left or over Notification if you miss a few days to get you back on track Easy to calculate calories in recipes as you are creating them Fairly quick and functional. Lags sometimes when selecting the smaller drop downs but overall it’s good. Improvements Unable to add ingredients in grams / ml. Having to constantly use calculator to get decimal equivalent which makes it cumbersome A lot of basic things are not scanable. Fair it’s a new app however found things like cheese / tuna/ yoghurts / veg that I’d expect to be common are not there via barcode. They can come up sometimes by manually typing them but sometimes not even then and end up having to use something similar on calories but not accurate. A lot of American sizing - a cup of onions? Grams would be better Doesn’t remember that many previously used products so having to re-search and add again. As you need to add each thing individually the ‘recently used’ section fills up pretty quick for just that one day Creating recipes are very frustrating. Would be good if when creating you can set the portion size there so when adding to diary you can select ‘1 portion’. Make a pot of soup and it has 6 portions…there’s no 1/6th fraction in the list so again working out decimal manually. Just not as clean in user experience. Can’t add calories manually. If you go for a meal out and it has the calories listed in the menu, would be handy to add yourself, add a quick description and total calories / protein if known to still track. Would be good to add a full previous days breakfast / lunch straight into another day rather than it only having the remove function. If you batch cook you will generally eat the same things on multiple days. Having to do one by one per item is time consuming. You can do it as a recipe but it’s a lot more work, and not portioned when you save it - as above, having to work out decimal every time
It’s a shame because I like the fitness chef content but I’ve tried to reset my password and can’t access the app as the code sent comes up with an error. I’d like to see whether the apps for me but sadly I can’t log in to see.
