Bern playing these for years, now won’t open on my iPad
Fantastic game. Sunk so many hrs into it. If you like this kind of game at all then you will love this. Simple yet addictive
I brought and played this ages ago and still to this day play it, I even got the other expansion sets. This is the best IOS game, if you are looking for a retro RPG game or a game similar to TES then this is for you.
If you like Classic RPGs then this is perfect. The closest thing on iPad To games like the elder scrolls etc. I have been playing it for months now, it really is a wonderful game.
Retro graphics reminiscent of ID Software's classic FPS, coupled with the deep RPG mechanics of an Elder Scrolls game. Very good.
I was enough of a nerd in the early 2000's to own, not one, but two PDA's. As with my iPad today, the main function of these devices for me was not to organise a busy work schedule, book holidays, browse the web, or listen to music, but to play games. It could be argued that the plethora of freeware/home-brew available for those devices was the birth place for the concept of the AppStore. Among the text adventures, simple RTS's, arcade clones, and excellent space sims shone a brilliant little western RPG,in the style of The Elder Scrolls, called 'Legacy'. A full blown action rpg romp, offering many hours of dungeon crawling, wizard killing, sword swing badassness, that ate up a significant proportion of my adolescence. Never again would I be bored on the bus to school, or on the long car journeys on holiday. I had, in my hands, a real, bonafide RPG, surpassing anything the handheld consoles of the day could offer. Imagine my glee then, when nearly 10 years later I found out that Legacy had not died alongside the PDA, but that its development team, Redshift, had continued its labour of love. Making a sequel, and porting it to iOS, in the form of The Quest. The Quest continues in almost the exact same vein as its predecessor, offering up deliciously nerdy RPG action, with hand drawn sprites and FP combat. The gameplay is a bit on the clunky, old fashioned side though. Expect slow frame by frame movement, and enemies that seem to disappear every time you try to aim at them. I'm sure, if like me you played Arena, Doom, or many of the other early 3D games of the nineties that the lovingly crafted graphics won't be off-putting in fact, for me, it's refreshing to play something that looks, and plays like a nineties pc game. But to those uninitiated to this old world charm , it may look rather messy. Where this game really shines, is in its excellent dungeon crawling and loot. The buzz of finding some rare loot on a fallen enemy. Or happening across a hidden cave filled with high level enemies that you spend a whole afternoon whittling away. Or the feeling of dawning your full set of heavy armour and flaming sword and knowing your one tough SOB. Yes friends, this is a proper, serious RPG, offering many, many hours of fun. In my humble opinion this game deserves to be much higher in the charts. You should buy it.... Seriously, it's great, I mean, full set of heavy armour and a flaming sword.
Great game. Thoughtful gaming not swish graphics and shoot em up. Satisfying puzzles and game progress. Brill.
I was a huge Dungeon Master fan back in my Atari ST days and I'm happy to say that The Quest is very similar to it. I am still in the first village doing side quests but from what I've played, it's a great RPG. I know the graphics are not great but it's still a fun game and I know that I'm going to still be playing The Quest for months to come. For an ipod RPG, The Quest is pretty much one of the best I've played. Not so much graphically, but gameplay wise. The Quest Gold is also good value for money because you get the main game and some of the early expansions. At first, £4.99 did seem quite a lot for an iPod game, but after a number of hours playing it and becoming hooked on the game, £4.99 now seems like a bargain as I'll no doubt be playing The Quest Gold for a 100+ hours. The Quest Gold is highly recommended for any serious RPG fan who can over-look basic graphics for excellent gameplay.
This is my favourite iPhone game by a mile. Get into this game and you'll find yourself in an engrossing, atmospheric fantasy world. Character development is also very nicely done, with a selection of races and an easy-to-use and richly detailed points-based system for skill advancement. The art is great and fits with the way I like to see my fantasy games. A LOT of work has clearly gone into this and it really pays off. The price might seem high for an iPhone game but I would make two points here. Firstly it's about the price of two large lattes these days, incredible but true. I.e. not that much really. Secondly, for your money in the gold edition you get an enormous amount of gaming goodness. I dithered over getting this game for weeks but succumbed a few weeks ago and am extremely glad I did. There are loads of expansions too once you get through the set of games in the gold edition. All in all, my favourite game. Highly recommended.
If you like the elder scrolls arena, you will love this!
