Historical inaccuracy…
After the first level I am presented with a “Did you know”-box about gladiators. Most of the information in this is pure fantasy, although it presented as historical. This completely ruins the experience for me. Otherwise it seems to be a simple game similar to many others. Elaboration on historical inaccuracy: Gladiators were not fighting against unarmed slaves, they were (often well-treated) slaves themselves. Only some of the classes had shields, and throwing the shield as a sign of surrender is not documented. Neither the crowd, nor the emperor would decide whether gladiators would live or die. Fights were rarely to the death. Gladiators were way to expensive to train just to be killed after a single match.
