“As someone coming from the wrong side of the two cultures, Eliot's poem had effectively been closed off to me for decades. Now it isn't, and that in itself would almost justify the price of the iPad that made it possible.”
-The Guardian, UK, John Naughton

The Waste Land is published jointly by Faber and Faber and RGB. Faber is the London publisher where Eliot himself worked for almost four decades; RGB is behind other revolutionary interactive books for iPad including The Elements and Solar System which are defining the future of publishing. The interviews and Fiona Shaw's performance are specially filmed by Adam Low, director of the BBC Arena documentary on Eliot.
Publication of The Waste Land in 1922 was a milestone in the literary history of the 20th Century. This edition carries forward Eliot's vision and vividly demonstrates how literature can be illuminated by the new digital medium.

The Waste Land Отзывы Пользователей
Almost useless
Has a lot of potential, but the fact that pressing on a line jumps to that part of the recording makes the app basically useless. How are you supposed to scroll without pressing any lines? And when you choose ‘no reading’, pressing a line should not trigger a recording. Again, this could really have been something, but as it stands, it is a waste of money.
Nice app, but eats a lot of memory
I will enjoy updates.
Interactive Notes Inaccurate to Touch
When you touch on a highlighted part, the note does not pop up. You have to touch around the highlighted part—left, right, above, below and everywhere in between—to get the note to pop up. Very frustrating! Sent a support note to the devs. Let’s see whether and how soon they will fix it.
iPad OS 16.3.1; iPad Air 5th gen.
Other than the “Perspectives” section, the content seems to be OK.
Beautiful
Grateful for this. And would love to see more like it.
Brilliant
I have watched Fiona Shaw's performance at least a dozen times and am always floored.
A Model For Presenting Literature
This app offers a model for presenting literary works in all their richness on a mobile device. I love the readings by several actors, and the scholarly interpretations deepen our appreciation.
Touch press has shown us what can be done, both with this app and the one on Shakespeare's sonnets. I have been waiting, waiting, waiting, wandering through the vast waste land of the App Store looking for more apps that illuminate and present literary works in this way. Please, I will buy them.
Poem came alive
This app made the poem come alive for me, especially the video. it makes full use of the iPad's capabilities. I would love to see more of the same with the Four Quartets and other works of literature...
Needs a Fix
Sound stopped working after about a day. Very disappointing, felt like I threw my money away.
What?
Audio will to work!
Outstanding...Thank You
I am reviewing this poem, again, with a friend, and this app with its multiple readings and perspectives gives such a richness to the experience.
I also appreciate being able to add my notes alongside.
