Timewerks: Mobile Billing

When I first bought this, it did not fit my working style, so I emailed the developer. Steve Orth responded quickly, and acknowledged my requests for changes. I asked for control of invoice numbers - done. I asked for more control of timers (minutes instead of quarter hours) - done. I wanted to be able log the start, take notes, and close off the service call - done. I asked for number of running timers on home screen - done. I could go on, but Steve is bringing changes in very rapidly, and improving this app faster than I really expected. A smooth running, useful app, reasonable price, and a communicative, co-operative developer. (and I paid $70 for the same function on a windows pocket mobile phone, but I could not email invoices from the phone!) A number of years has passed since I wrote the first part of this review, and I am still very happy with the app (and the developer)

I have been using this for a little more than a year for my mobile business. Works great for tracking hours and materials. Easy to set up and I have yet to encounter any glitches. Also, the developers actually pay heed to suggestions. I made one suggestion to mod the CSV file and it appeared on the following update. Worth the bux!

This is a very handy app that I use every day in my consulting role for the multiple, simultaneous projects that I run. I use this as a quick and efficient tool on my phone to build detailed time sheets to support the invoices I generate thru my accounting system. I would like to have the ability in the options setting to label them time sheets instead of invoices, to set my fiscal year (or any other timeframe of my choosing - interchangeable) to control the display of numbers for quick reference in Projects, Project Summary & Invoices screens thought. Nonetheless an app I have come to depend on.

This app has sooo many glitches. Can't edit a tax rate. It just returns to the settings before you edited it. You can only delete and start a new tax rate. When you create invoices, when generating the PDF file, description of line items are missing, it changes quantity of 1 to 100 It crashes frequently I'm sort of surprised this was chosen as a staff fav by apple. It has potential, but right now it's not great.

Would be awesome if I could customize the invoices. Maybe have a personal copy and a choice for what shows up on the PDF or customer copy. Otherwise I love the app.

I've been using Timewerks for a little more than a year now and it is fantastic. As a person who offers multiples services, each of which at a different hourly rate, the app allowed me to create each of my Work Items and assign a rate to each of them. With this app a can Manage each of my clients, and their specific projects, adding hours at various rates to each of the clients' projects, exporting as an invoice whenever I want and in second send it to the client, well formatted in HTML in his mailbox. The app keeps track of all you invoicing history, you can add payments too, you can manage taxes, discounts, fix prices for some work items… absolutely everything. Now, another amazing feature is the backup system. I had the bad luck of getting an iPhone stolen, fortunately locked, but when i bought my iPhone 5, I had an issue and could not restore my iTunes backups. I retrieved my apps from iCloud and sent an email to the Support of Timewerks and Stephen kindly assisted me and sent my a link to reset my credentials and in a click ALL my items, clients, entire history, were restored. Though it is fantastic, some of you might be concerned in sending your billing data to a server, rest assured that this is optional and you can enable or disable this feature. It saved me a hell of a headache. If there were 6 stars i would give it to Timewerks. And god knows i'm really good at bashing an app. It is the first time I take the time to write ugh a review, but I think they deserve it , and also I am doing you a favour in making you feel safe to use it. My only tiny request to the team would be to eventually add the possibility to create more than one ''biller'' profile , since I sometimes bill as myself, and other times bill with the name of a company. I would like to be able to switch from one to the other(s). Other than than, it's a speedy awesome app which you can master after a few uses. -- 6 Stars.

Wow! No more (classic) get me an invoice from from clients. For a mobile service man like me I feel like shouting out loud YOU PAY NOW!!! Customers that are hard to get money from now have a good looking invoice that day. Also after programming your contacts and parts lists properly its fast and painless to make and invoice. Good technical support as well.

I've used this app for a long time, it's great, we do all our time tracking and primary billing using it. I've previously rated it a 4 or 5, with this update now rated a 3. As an update (for existing users), it introduces a couple new bugs and adds nothing, not even existing bug fixes or new features (that I can find) other than the data sync feature which appears to be a paid ($25/year) in-app module purchase where it (best as I can tell) offers (through their website) what most other apps offer for free (through iCloud) which is syncing data between devices. The visual appearance (colours, background, framing of objects) of the app has changed, but not the location/position/etc of items on a screen. The previous look is not available as an option (it should be) and though there are a couple things about the new look that I do like, overall, I don't like new general appearance, the artsy aged brown paper look (I prefer a more clean, professional look, like before); that is of course up to everyone's personal preference. One new bug is that the app is now very sluggish, when screens change/slide, it always flickers/stutters, and sometimes it hesitates and pauses for a moment, unlike before (and all other apps) where a screen wipes beautifully and quickly to the next). Closing all other background apps and restarting the phone (3GS in this case) didn't fix this, and it does not happen in any other app I use (I use my phone more like a portable computer than a phone). Another new bug is that it now crashes occasionally (never did before), even when just going to view entries previously made. Fortunately, with various backups, I was able to switch back to the previous version of this app, glad I did, and I'll wait for a future update to this app, but I won't use this one. If you don't already have this app, this is a great app for tracking time and expenses/items, and invoicing (if you wish, I do), better and more efficient than any other similar app I've tried over the years. Though the screen shots don't really show enough, it organizes clients, projects (within clients) and the rest extremely well, and has a very efficient way of entering time, expenses, items which is really the key to an app not becoming tedious and frustrating to use throughout the day. There are a few inefficiencies and flaws, but once you learn those, you can work with them. There are a few bugs and issues to be aware of (still to be fixed some day), like the totals being wrong on

Convoluted and unbelievably poorly organized. Having said this, there is a slight chance this app might work to an average degree with select professions. Test the lite version in advance (as I, in a lapse of judgement, did not)
