Tot Pocket

bought this app cause it has an apple watch app. but you can’t edit text on the watch. doesn’t have any more benefits than cheatsheet which i already owned. at least with cheatsheet on apple watch you can display three lines of text on modular face.

You want this in your iPhone/iPad dock. And on your Mac. It’s that good.

This is one of my most-used apps. The only shortcomings are (1) very difficult-to-see text selection highlighting; (2) lack of (on macOS) Cmd-Shift-Opt-V “paste and match style” support. Otherwise brilliant.

Yes, there are other ways of doing this, but this is so handy, especially on the iMac. Instant sync - no wait - multiple pages. Too easy. I’m using it all the time!

Tot is one the most useful (and beautiful) pieces of software I have on my devices. I use it for everything from making temporary notes during meetings & calls, to late-night notes on long-term projects. It’s simply flawless.

Wow! The share extension works in real time showing prepend and append content!

I love the unique pricing model for this app. Free OSX, reasonable one time purchase price for iOS. And the simple, purposely restricted functionality is beautiful. I love that I won’t end up with a million little notes, (like when I use OSX stickies for example), or end up with random files with notes that I completely forget about. About the only one thing I’d love to see is that while the app supports a restricted version of Markdown, it doesn’t support headers with #. Even if I was just single and double, that would make me happier, as I’m an avid Markdown user, and this little thing irks me just a bit.

Tot Pocket is a fantastic program that really fills a need for me, which is why I bought it despite its very high price. Tot aggregates little snippets of text I otherwise would have trouble organizing before using them in a more systematic way in another app. It is intelligent about rich text, including links. It makes it easy to take formatted text from any source and convert it instantly to plain text. Tot syncs between devices using iCloud, including Macs and other iOS/iPad OS devices. I hope the developers continue to flesh out this app and I REALLY hope they don’t turn around in 1-2 years and change the pricing model to a subscription. Users in Canada paying $30 for an app really deserve to have continued access to this as long as the app is being made.

If you are all in on Apple Devices and need a place to jot things down quickly and without cluttering your notes or the full overhead of a to do app, this little utility is wonderful. I use it every day. It’s elegant and a pleasure to work with.

I rarely write reviews, but I am here to evangelize because Tot has changed my life, no exaggeration. I started using Tot only on MacBook initially, and it worked excellently as a little text holder or spot to start drafting a thought. I think the menu bar quick access and hands-free nature makes it stick better than other apps for me. I didn’t start to really use the heck out of Tot until I realized there was an iPhone and iPad app. I think having access across all of my devices, in addition to the high quality design and function of Tot, is well worth $20. Syncing across devices is instant. New features come out occasionally, and they are well thought out, not at all overwhelming, and never cause functionality issues. I think Tot serves a different function than any other note app system — I love Tot because it is the perfect pre-note app. How many of us have dozens, if not hundreds, of individual (abandoned) notes in our preferred notes app with a single word/thought, lost in the mix and bogging down the notes app that otherwise begs for organization and structure in order to be used to its maximum capabilities? Tot bridges a gap I never realized I had in my personal note-taking system by giving me a clean placeholder for those in-between thoughts or links or passcodes or whatever, and the finite number of pages forces me to clean up and organize regularly. I wouldn’t dare ask for one more dot… As someone who can never nail down my workflow to one device or app, who benefits from the lower stakes/ease of use that comes with limited formatting options, and who always has a lot of irons in the fire, Tot is a lifesaver for me. I really appreciate the devs who made this tool!
