Where’s my stats guy?
Ten minutes before tip-off and the one person who knows how to run your statistics program is not there. Maybe it’s a really fancy system you raised money to buy, maybe it’s some other iPad app that’s just littered with buttons or maybe it’s just an excel spreadsheet you need to fill out. In most cases, coaches have to rely on just one student or individual who knows how to operate these systems to get decent stats.
That was my experience when I started coaching high school basketball. I just couldn’t find the right combination of a good system and students who knew enough about the game to get decent stats for my team. And coming from the collegiate level, I was used to having good stats.
