Under My Roof Home Inventory +

I’ve had this app for quite a while and it just gets better and better. It takes a bit of time to get started but after that it’s so easy. I love the fact that I can track warranty and I can attach manuals. They are great people that build this app and highly recommended! Subscription is minimal to keep the developers in business. I don’t like subscriptions but this one is reasonable.

I use this app to manage any and everything we own that may be lost, damaged or stolen. It allows me to record all the pertinent detail including file attachments and photos. I no longer have to worry about misplacing owners manual for example, because I can always easily retrieve it from the app. I really like the practicality of this app.

I do like this app and understand it is multi faceted to its credit and it isn’t necessarily going to be easy to learn all the aspects of it right away. However, it is very difficult to follow the tutorials; given how fast the narrator speaks (fair to say this isn’t the only app that is like this). Also, I’ve been unable to find specific answers to basic issues i.e. sync status. It says its idle or disabled test no solution. Finally, some of us are trying to create a legacy type record and are at an age that may make it difficult to follow along with disjointed training guides. Hope my expectations are reasonable since we are paying a fee.

Have used this since launch. Great for capturing and managing inventory. Also use the maintenance tasks and repairs extensively along with keeping track of consumable supplies such as filters and cleaning packets. Everything works great and it has always worked without problems. The only caveat is that the database is locked up and not accessible, so the only way to access lists of stuff is a somewhat clunky and bloated set of overly formatted reports. The key item info can be downloaded into csv, and the images can be downloaded. Other ancillary data cannot be accessed at all. Overall a great product that I am sticking with but mixed feelings about not really being able to backup and extract my data fully.

I’ve been doing repeat home inventories using various apps and programs. This one, in my opinion, has served me well!

Originally, purchased to be prepared for insurance purposes in case of a fire, etc. but have referred to it to very quickly check the Warranty period for my refrigerator & the contact info. to claim such. I was inspired to get the app. after hearing how a Paralegal friend one night returning home, openned their door to discover that their house had been suddenly flooded by a broken pipe! Fortunately, she had ALL her info. ready to hand over to the Ins. agent!

After losing a small cabin to wildfire, my insurance company wanted a detailed inventory list before paying out on the contents portion of the policy. Needless to say, that task was difficult since I had to rely on memory and some photos. Since then, I’ve become focused on capturing the inventory in my primary home. I now have a place to store everything and to eliminate paper. Those 2-page assembly instructions? They are now scanned documents in the app and the paper is recycled. I’m a long time PC/Windows user but this is the only meaningful full-featured app for home contents. I ended up buying a MacBook Air just so I could streamline data entry. The barcode scanner is my favorite data entry method. And, when the info is in the app, I can lookup details about inventory when I’m buying extra parts (was that a 10” or 12” chainsaw chain I need to buy?) Trust me when I say the annual renewal fee is nothing compared to having a comprehensive list of contents in case of fire, theft or ensuing you do have adequate coverage.

For YEARS, I looked for home-inventory software where I could put everything in one place: descriptions, photos, receipts, manuals, etc. Not only does Under My Roof allow me to do that, it’s incredibly flexible, and allows me to organize my inventory so it’s most intuitive for me. Hooray!

I first purchased Home Inventory 17 hyears ago way back on 11/15/08. Along the way the developers listened to my feature suggestions… leading to Under My Roof, an amazing app for being organized. And the support is top-notch.
