You know that feeling you get when you lose control of your todos, feel overwhelmed, switch to a new app, and suddenly feel in control and productive again! That is, until that app becomes full of todos, overwhelm sets in, and you find yourself spending more time organizing your todo list than actually doing the things on it?
After using app after app, we got tired of this experience and set out to create a workflow and an app that would eliminate this cycle once and for all. We went through several rounds of ideation, implementation, and trial. Round after round, we would see what worked and what did not. It was painful, but we scrapped anything that did not work regardless of how much time we spent implementing it, and started over with new ideas and what we learned.
Finally, we decided to try the idea of voting our priorities up and down. Surprisingly this worked very well for us and continued to work even as our todo lists grew. That is how we came upon the creation of Priority Stack.
With Priority Stack, you create todos like with every other app, but unlike other apps, unimportant todos settle to the bottom and important ones stay on top.
How it works:
* You create a todo just like with every app. Currently the properties stored are minimal, but we have plans to add more.
* New todos are added to the top or near the top of the list where they will have your attention.
* When you review your lists, you can vote todos up or down based on how important they are.
* As this cycle continues, your less important todos drift to the bottom where you no longer have to pay them any mind, but you can still feel comfortable knowing you captured them in case you ever want or have the time to revisit them.
* Similarly your new and more important todos stay around the top of the list where they have your attention and make you want to complete them.
* When you have time to revisit a list and decide what to do next, you can scroll down and vote candidates up. When you are finished voting your most important tasks will once again be at the top.
* Things that were important at one time, are likely less important now and therefore no longer need to have your attention until later when you dig deep enough and decide to vote them higher.
Another feature we liked was not just to be able to schedule todos, but also to capture and track them when they have a due date. That is why we keep the idea of letting todos having both a scheduled date as well as a due date.
We also wanted to be able to track our todos from our Mac, to our iPad, and to our iPhones while also keeping personal data private. That is why we harnessed the power of iCloud to sync transactions from device to device. iCloud data stays private to you.
We could go on and on about Priority Stack, but it’s probably best to just download it and give it a try for a few days and see for yourself. You can download it now for iOS, but a Mac version is in the final stages of release.
* A subscription is required to use this app
* Subscriptions vs one time purchases facilitate improvements, support, and keep the app going.
