Absolutely useless for anyone wanting to use this with a NAS drive. Nic
Armour
The title says it all.
It only appears to play MP3s and not MP4s used by modern audio systems. The app does offer DLNA but it's let down by the fact it can't play MP4s from my NAS. I also emailed them and they never replied, for which I removed another star, so don't expect any support if you do have problems! Money would be better spent on a Bluetooth alternative.
Continually drops connection to media server on a stable home network. Awful software that clearly has not been well tested for usability.
No wonder you can buy the uplay stream for £50 at Richer now !
this app lets the qed unit Down. Qed you need to use a better app than this for you streamer ffs
The QED uPlay Stream is a great little streamer with good sound quality but the app is a let down as it permanently refused to pickup the device on wi-fi mode even though it was connected, had an IP address, showing up as a UPnP device on the network, etc. Connecting directly to the router (via powerline) works perfectly. Lost 2 stars because of that. Also, although it provides access to a relatively good range of sources (a couple of cloud services, shared libraries, etc), it misses out on Internet radio and to a lesser extend Spotify and Deezer. Access to Internet radio would have been a major plus and, given it's not difficult to implement, QED (or Armour) missed a trick and a quick and easy win in the marketing stakes. Lastly, the app has a strange defect where the sound distorts when the in-app volume is at max. One notch down and the distortion goes away completely. QED have a solid wi-fi streamer but it is hampered by a sub-standard app. Given this app is the only (official) way to access the device, QED needs to either open it up to other DLNA/UPnP apps or spend a bit of money and time on improving the app - and it's almost there.
Not a bad bit of budget kit, severely let down by a poor app.... Don't bother and either get a decent streamer or look for a different solution to connect digital music to your hifi
