I've been using Verto now for about 9 months and have had no issues come up of any kind -- everything has been seamless and quick. Definitely both easier and faster than the variable times it takes for interac transfers to go through. Would recommend!
The app has been useful and easy to use for splitting our football’s team fee. I like that the app offers more than one way to collect my teammates fees. And the communications team is very responsive.
I use Verto for payments with my basketball team. So easy and wonderful to use. Never had an issue and will continue to use it.
This app has been great for moving money around and using for team payments. There were a couple glitches when it first came out but the company seems dedicated to fix it and the app continues to improve!
Verto makes it really easy for managing your sports team and splitting the cost. It’s great not having to put down a credit card and incur credit card charges while I wait for my teammates to pay me back. It’s good for other stuff too like small loan advances, but I haven’t tried that yet.
I have been waiting for something like this to hit Canada for a long time. I love Venmo in the US and found that the Interac e-transfers that Canadians use are too difficult for me. They force me to create multiple email addresses so that I can deposit money into different bank accounts. That’s annoying, but what’s worse is that I frequently have people sending me money that goes to the wrong account and then I end up paying $1.25 to transfer it to the correct account. I’m soooooo happy that I can just give someone my phone number or username and then, after I receive a payment, I can decide which account it goes into. MUCH simpler. Thank you Verto!
Don’t trust your money with Verto. Shirt version: Verto has been sitting on my money for weeks with no sign that they will transfer my money to my bank. Their “help centre” is offline and the person that has replied to my customer service email is no longer replying. Longer version: My partner and I started using Verto. We had lived in the US and used Venmo to balance our money. We started using Verto and all seemed well. The app is simple and lacks a lot of features, but it worked … as long as it was taking money from our bank accounts to settle our small exchanges. After a series of bills, I amassed about 400$ in my Verto account. My bank account was connected as I had used it to put funds into Verto when my partner paid some bills. I was told the transfer would take 2-3 business day. After 6 business days I went in to the app to have a look. My transfer was “pending approval”. There is little in the app or web site to explain what that means. I tried to chat with someone over the internal help centre only to see a message saying that no one was available and that I should email customer service. After 2 days of no one being in their chat I emailed customer service. An agent named R$$$ told me they would fix my problem. At this poker I had also initiated another transfer for about 50$ which took one day to get to my bank. The agent asked me for a scan of my government ID and a “blank chèque”. Often, what someone needs with a blank chèque is the account number,institution number and routing number. I don’t have physical blank chèques. Who does anymore? So I provided a scan of my CIBC account page with all the information on it. The agent asked again for a blank chèque to “verify my identity” and to verify the bank account was mine. I explained that I had already provided all of that information and that I don’t have chèques. That was the last time I heard from Verto. It’s been 2.5 weeks of this. It’s 400$ but it goes to show that this is probably not a reliable place to put your money, even if it’s small amounts. Sadly, Canada doesn’t yet have something as reliable as Venmo. Don’t trust startups with little to no resources to handle customer care with your money.
We have been deprived in Canada of an app that can easily transfer money amongst friends without having to log into a banking app. Plus it connects with your contacts so you don’t need to copy in an email address. I’ve been using it to collect fees from my sports teams and it has been so much easier to keep things organized and remind those that need reminding. Thank you Verto!
