The VidiU iOS application allows users to remotely monitor and configure their Teradek VidiU encoder over WiFi.
The Teradek VidiU gives you the freedom to broadcast live high definition video directly to the Web without a PC. Whether you’re streaming out of a video switcher or wirelessly from your camera, VidiU allows you to go live when you want, where you want.
VidiU offers API level integration with the Ustream and new Livestream platforms, which makes streaming to your channel as easy as logging into your account.
VidiU also allows you to choose the CDN that is right for you. VidiU's generic RTMP interface allows you to stream your live video content to a Wowza server or the platform of your choice at any time.
VidiU streams over dual band MIMO WiFi, Ethernet, or via a single 3G/4G USB modem. For events that require you to be completely wireless, VidiU’s rechargeable Li-Ion battery lets you roam cable-free for up to 60 minutes.
VidiU offers a free application for iOS that allows you to stream a second video feed to your mobile device for monitoring your live broadcast. Since VidiU acts as its own dual band Access Point, you can choose to connect your iPad or iPhone directly to the device or to your local network.
Connect your HDMI video source to VidiU and stream at resolutions up to 1080p (see Technical S). VidiU encodes video in real-time using high profile H.264 compression and AAC audio at up to 5Mbps. Embedded HDMI audio, headphone output, and a mic/line input are supported.
Use ShareLink to share your bandwidth (up to 4 iPhones/iPads) for increased bandwidth to stream live broadcasts, and our new backgrounding system for ShareLink allows you to share your bandwidth even while the app isn't running, provided you share your location.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Waiting for upgrade
This upgrade has deemed the vidiu mini unuseable due to disappearing login/password input boxes. Teradek know about this major bug and say they have submitted updated version to App Store. We're still waiting! Don't buy mini until this is fixed!

Used to be a useful tool, now it crashes on launch (June 2022)

Great app with some improvements needed
This app does the job very well. The ratings here seem to be quite old that perhaps reflect issues with prior versions of the app. I have used this app a lot over the last two months to livestream in combination with a Vidiu device from Teradek and have had zero issues. Maintains a strong reliable connection for hours of livestreaming with no interruptions. The only improvement that would add significant value would be to be able to view the preview video in full-screen/landscape mode. Else it is tiny and can barely satisfy the requirements of monitoring the output of the Vidiu device. Also, the app should continue to do it’s job in the background when one navigates away from it.. it drops the link to the Vidiu device if you try and use another app.
iPad app doesn’t rotate?
Installed the app on my iPad Pro. Wanting to use the app in landscape orientation, but the app doesn’t rotate? This needs to be fixed.
Crashing
Something has happened, and even after rebooting my phone, I still can’t get the app to open without crashing. Based on the reviews here... I am not alone.
Unusable
This app does nothing but crash on start-up. I’ve only just received a VidiU Pro at work and just downloaded this app, hoping it would make navigating the VP easier. So far, I can’t get it to do anything but crash as soon as it opens.
Crash and burn
This App used to work ok, but recently with updates it crashes every time you connect to a wireless network where the Vidiu player is connected.
Wish I could give it -1 Stars
I haven’t had any good experiences with this app and my new VidiU Go since I upgraded from the VidiU Pro. They really need to get on the ball asap and fix this thing.
