Don’t get me wrong; this app is definitely worth the download! I’m even contemplating subscribing in this cash strapped world. I was very pleased with many of the WWII, news broadcast, and the commercials being left in (it really makes you feel you’re living in the era!) However I was quite disappointed to find two of my favorite shows, The Halls of Ivy and The Dennis Day Show, are not featured. How can this be?! Plus not all shows are available even if you subscribe. There are 175 episodes of Dr. Christian that have been recovered but Vintage Radio only offers 69 of those shows. Vintage Radio definitely needs to access Archieve.org (not their app Wayback Machine; it’s pitiful) and complete the shows that are available. Hopefully they’ll read this and they will. Meanwhile I’ll be pleased with the abundance that they do have to offer; which in all honesty is a lot (it’s just not all that’s out there) and give a Thank You and 4 stars.
This app has brought me several hundreds of hours of pleasure. The only thing I would suggest is for us to have the ability to set the time increment. It would be great if I could fast forward or rewind by 10 or 15 seconds instead of 30, and to have the option to change that setting as we do with the native Apple podcast app. Thanks so much for all you do!
There are many shows with only a fraction of the episodes that are currently available. It doesn’t have a lot of newer show (even stuff like CBC edition of Nero Wolfe) or larger show like Harry Nile or Jim French’s Sherlock Holmes. There are also quite a few older shows not included. As far as use this is the best out there but there is so much more it could have. Most of is would pay$5 a month if it had more. Also played shows could be marked a little better. The small circles can be deceiving if you don’t store all the downloads.
Every few months I am a paying monthly subscriber, until I quit because the player play controls don’t work outside the app itself, and little to no updates except what’s needed to keep the app working in the OS. There is not a single app for OTR that is well supported and therefore little to nothing to encourage competition that would force developers to work. One of the best OTR players but the worst for updates. The player controls are strange so they do not work on anything else like an Apple Watch. And at the end of some tracks a loud annoying reminder comes on to tell you what you already know, that your listening via this vintage radio app.
I listen to this app everyday. The annual subscription pays for itself in enjoyment in the first month alone. The customer service I have received was wonderful.
If you can get it to play more then 10:00 without crashing you’re lucky.
It’s very annoying to hear VintageRadio.com after every recording and at a volume level considerably higher than the original recording. I decided to cancel my subscription because of this.
I love this app! It’s great listening to the original Gunsmoke and the Jack Benny Program. The developers are very responsive when you contact them if their is a problem with the app though there rarely is a problem with it.
one of the best selections on the net. I like the idea that I can set my own play list.
