Love WatchHouse but the app is a bit weak. Example - I get 6 stamps, the UI just goes back to zero, it doesn’t tell you there’s a free coffee ticket elsewhere in your the app. Makes you think they’ve shortchanged you. Fix this design guys.
Useless
Great coffee, useless app. Unresponsive and wouldn’t even let me log me in.
Cannot register
I've tried several times but cannot register because the button isn't working!!
Sign up is so last century
Apple allows app devs to include one click signup with Apple ID. Had to enter everything manually - didn’t even include auto complete on name and email. As I was signing up whilst in the queue this was really frustrating!
Though the app itself seems fine, and only needing six stamps for free coffee is very competitive (Notes needs 8 - though notes supports one click sign up!)
App stopped working during sign up
Was super excited to use the app, however I couldn’t even finish the sign up… the app froze
Poor signup flow
Excessive fields, letters shown for phone number field and loyalty url to verify account goes to a 404. Maybe best to stick to coffee.
Below par
Not a reflection of the coffee, but the app is terrible.
It’s slow, with style over function. Which is just frustrating.
There seems to be a 15-min lead time between ordering and collection, which is useless in London. Nero & Gail’s can be done in ~5mins
Sign up
Wow, what a bad sign up journey and no I’m not typing my password in wrong…
Login process requires work
UPDATE: More than a year later, the app is still not fixed. As a user, your issues with the app don't stop at the initial registration. For some strange reason, the app loads itself every time you open it, which makes it extremely slow and barely functional. As a user of the coffee shop app, I just want to quickly access the app during the checkout process, but if it takes too long to start up, I end up delaying people in the queue. It doesn't allow you to add stamps for coffee after you pay, so users are left waiting for the app to load.
Things get even worse if you're unfortunate enough to have your phone stolen within a 5-minute radius of the original WatchHouse store. All the police officers who get free coffee from the business clearly do nothing when the thief brazenly prowls the neighborhood looking for another victim 3 weeks later, and your case is closed without investigation. While the lack of police effort is not the app's fault, the refusal of the staff to add your stamps to your profile using an email address because you lost your phone and can't access the app at the time of your visit is frustrating. I know that this capability exists, but it's frustrating when the barista tells you that management doesn't allow them to use this function. Please show some empathy to your loyal customers on a bad day.
And yes, paper cards are a million times better because no one steals them from your hands, they don't require pre-loading or registration. And if a user loses them, they don't care as much as they do about not being able to get a stamp at the point of sale.
Reward programs don't give users a good feeling in 2023! They make users feel like their data is being collected and exploited, even when this is not the case. The app is just another source of frustration.
OLD REVIEW:
I recently tried the Watch House app for a coffee chain and I have to say it needs a lot of work. The login process is a huge pain and the staff is not very supportive. It takes seconds to give customers a paper card for stamping, but it takes five minutes to install the app and register. There is also nothing that reminds customers to fix the app before initiating an order, and then they can't pause the order to install the app. The app is also very misleading when it comes to the sign in process. When you install it on the phone, it doesn't prompt you to log in. People install it and think they will get their points next time, only to find out during the ordering proces

Creating an account is not a one-click process, and there is no login with Apple. You also can't use the QR code displayed until you verify your email. All in all, this app needs a lot of work.
