Pay to win. So expensive. Time expensive. Have to buy the good events. The mechanics are janky. Can’t make your old gold so you either have to buy it or farm it in tiny quantities. Takes wayyyy too long to progress unless you pay cash.

Like all A Thinking Ape games, it started off lots of fun. But also like them all, eventually they start to squeeze it for cash too much and it becomes impossible to play at any competitive level without lots of spending. Their games are addictive and highly social and really fun to play. Then this developer starts to make too much of the game inaccessible, unless you spend a lot every month. They appear to be making that move lately, so the free players and low spenders will begin to exit the game before long, leaving the big spenders with not enough people to play with and against. Then the developer will reskin the basic game, call it a new game and start the cycle over.

Well..if the players wouldn’t ruin it. I’ve been playing WA for little over a year and I can say I’ve had my ups and downs. I’m STILL learning more almost every week. I know what I signed up for when downloading a PvP game. However I wasn’t expecting cult like mentalities from popular clubs and proactively fueling bullying for no other reason other than to stir the pot. Yes I am literally writing this review to call out bad behavior. Nothing is done about it. Players write slurs all over RC or paint a narrative about another ‘rival’ player in the matter of seconds. People quit this game because of players like these. I mean random person reading this review does that sound appealing? No. Oh realm transfer right? You could just leave that realm and go to another one right? Yeah some players have might restrictions that make them unable to leave. Or what if the player is f2p and either has to wait for the free realm transfer token. Neither of these options work really because once these bullies notice their favorite punching bags aren’t in their realm anymore, they will literally go to the WA discord and figure out which realm you are in (if you post in RC) just so they can come target you. Bottom line is this: If you have the mentality of a teenager, likes to break rules, wants to always fit into the crowd, blindly following high might player bandwagons, and agreeing to their every word as gospel, this game IS for you!! You will find nothing but petty high school level drama and grown adults who zero outside of BR while not being oc… sounds fun am I rite? 🥲

There are too few games that are positive about witches. I really wanted to love this game. I spent some money up front, to support the devs. But the longer I play, the lower my opinion of the game. It’s a cash grab. The only way to the top is to spend THOUSANDS of dollars. Just to buy one hero can be $200. Then there’s what they call Battle Royale. It’s every week, a newbie bashing frenzy where accounts 10 times stronger will destroy littler players. To avoid that you can set an alarm and log in every 8 hours to use a free shield that you grind for, or you can BUY a 24 hour shield. And it’s like that with every single thing. It’s a cash grab. I wanted to love this game. But I have come to hate it.

It's been a good year now and they have still not fixed the fact that wood, an essential resource is simply not at a high enough income rate to progress at a rate in which we can keep up without spending money. It's a resource guys. Let those be a given and charge us for perm power. 😒

You cannot play this game competitively without spending hundreds and every month they take out something they were offering for free to play players and mark it up hugely. Heroes are no longer free through rewards from the meta quest. Now you must spend $100 on each new hero. Yes $100 and that’s the cheaper option. The coin rewards from the meta event are now only used for avatars so now to gain large quantities of dust you must buy their $20+ packages which don’t even give you much. Game has become completely a cash grab with no care. Player counts crashing on the realms, pay to play players that have spent thousands sit and harass the free to play players making it impossible to grow. Stay away unless you are willing to spend $100+ monthly.

It’s a time dump

This game is overall enjoyable. It is a bit slow and lackluster in the early game as more game features are added. I haven’t gotten more than an hour or two, but I can see complexity building.

Devs don’t release anything. There are still no raids worth running. Useless researches required (gold treasury protection). No goal in the game because there’s no content being released.
