YarnBuddy – Knit and Crochet

I haven’t used the app for a long while now and i only really need it for row counting(which works really nicely) so i can’t comment on all the other features, but i really wonder why the “Total Rows” counter doesn’t automatically go up or down when i change another counter in the same project. I keep forgetting to update it and in the end have to do lots of math to keep up with it, so i would love to have the option to automatically update the total rows counter whenever another counter in a project is changed. Otherwise my experience has been pleasant and i plan to continue using the app to catalogue my projects and count my rows :))

This app is really the best I found so far for my crochet projects. You can add projects, start it, pause for months and when you pick it back up, you will know exactly where you ended, what size hook you used etc. If you took the 5 minutes to add all the info to your project at the beginning, you will know how much yarn you have left, where you bought the yarn, at which price. You can add due dates to your projects - and all that is in the free version! I think you can have 10 projects in the free version, if you want more and have some more functions & no ads, the yearly subscription is really not expensive and I will get it as soon as I have a bit of spending money for myself. If I could give 5 stars and a +, I would. Thanks to the development team, this is really my crochet brain! Also, which I first didn’t discover, it has a tools section which is super convenient: a row counter for random quick work that isn’t connected to any project you have open, conversion tools to convert mm to inches, yards to meters and back etc. It also has a yarn substitute calculator where you can add info (skeins/meters/weight) on the yarn that is recommended to use in the pattern and then you add the yarn you‘d like to use/have available. It will calculate how many skeins/meters you will need of the yarn you want to use, which is a really genius trick for all of those who buy random yarn and decide much later they want to use it for a certain project (like…me). You will be able to know beforehand if the yarn you own will be enough for the project and won’t end up unraveling everything because your yarn ended at 3/4 of the project and you can’t find the brand / Color anymore.

I really love and enjoy using Yarn Buddy. Even so much that I bought the pro version a few days ago and I never regretted it. It’s really easy to use and make cataloging stash and tools so very easy. The only problem I have is, that I can’t use the Pro version of the app on my MacBook but that’s just me being nit picky.

I love the app - it‘s easy to use, I love the linkable counters and it‘s a great help while keeping track of my crochet projects. The only minor negative thing is that I can‘t get the app Widget to work (it always shows no current project found), it doesn‘t properly sync with my Apple Watch and I can‘t use it simultaneously on both ipad and iphone because well, it doesn‘t sync. But other than that this app is well worth it‘s money if you need something to collect your row counters and pattern notes.

I love this app! I use it for all my knitting projects. Unfortunately, when I upgraded my Apple Watch to the series 10 it stopped syncing between my watch and phone and now won't work on my watch. I've emailed the developer but have not gotten a response. I've got the most current version but cannot seem to get it to work on my watch, which is very disappointing.

I was so excited when I found Yarn Buddy. It worked so great with my iPhone and Apple Watch. Unfortunately it no longer works on my watch. Not sure what happened but it no longer works. I’m very disappointed.

Since the OS 11.2 update, the watch counter is frozen and I can’t find anyone to contact for support. Please help!

There's so many features and my favorite thing about this app is how you can customize the yarn stash down to the lot # & how to care for it. This is so amazing! I tried Ravelry and I love Yarn Buddy more, it's suits my preferences and checks all the boxes of standards I have for an app! There's other features as well but I mainly use the Yarn Stash one!

I’m not one to write reviews, but given that this is a small developer I really wanted to show my support! I actually purchased the app. It is a one time purchase of $44 or a monthly subscription of $14.99 but even without buying the app I it is completely worth it( I probably used it for a year or more before deciding to fully commit and support). I just have started to really get into my knitting and crocheting and I’m possibly going to start sewing again so I wanted the unlimited projects and the notes because I’m really forgetful, but when I tell you, this app is a lifesaver, I mean it. I have gone through and downloaded probably around 10 or more different (I’m being generous to myself cause it’s born way more) yarn apps and I always make my way back to this one so for an early Christmas gift I decided to buy myself the app and it just is a stand out and I believe that when more people start using it some of the features such as the barcode scan in order to input yarn in the database will be even better. I am notoriously bad for missing increases and so the alert button has been the best and since they fixed lot of what was going on with the Apple Watch, I use it so often because I definitely crochet on the go so being able to just tap my watch has been awesome. Everything from the color coating to the ability to link certain rows, to the yarn stash, the tools section that has things such as unit conversion and common abbreviations, the complex yet simple set up (which I have to get better at in putting my yarn in) has taken my crocheting journey in such a better direction and I really hope that the developer keeps working on and bettering this app because I believe it’s worthwhile.
