This is almost perfect for HomeKit troubleshooting
I haven’t bought an app in a while that made me think “oh wow, this is it”. ZeroScan is the last app I had to try out of all other Bonjour discovery apps (Discovery, Flame Browser, HE Network Tools, etc.) and while it’s not yet perfect it gets the one thing I want out of this kind of app right. Basically, I open the ZeroScan app and the scan result is immediately there. For other apps I have to make multiple presses to access the _hap_.tcp result which is the only info I need from this sort of app to debug HomeKit accessory issues. My only suggestion is that I can either put a nickname or hide certain results that aren’t relevant to my usage of the app. Other than the 127.0.0.1 result that keeps showing up (but it doesn’t in other Bonjour apps under _hap_.tcp) that I would prefer to hide for a ‘cleaner’ result, the scan results also present all of my Apple TV and HomePod which is fair since it’s also used by HomeKit. The problem is it uses a mix of letters and numbers instead of telling me what Apple TV or HomePod it is. It’s a confusing task trying to figure out what is what when there are many Apple TV and HomePod present - at least without me having to memorise the mishmash of names they currently have. If I’m at least able to rename it that would help a ton. Another thing that would help is showing the total number of items the scan detects next to the “ZeroScan” and “Rescan” button on top. It can be like “ZeroScan (19)” for example if it detects 19 items total. That way when I’m trying to troubleshoot a HomeKit accessory that disappears from discovery signifying a problem I can just quickly glance at how many items ZeroScan was able to scan, so if it says 18 that’s when I know the problematic HomeKit accessory is gone. For the other Bonjour app, Discovery, this is less of a problem because each item takes less space so more accessories are showing without me having to scroll down. I don’t mind ZeroScan’s approach, but having the total count in this case would really help. If those can be implemented, I would be one of the the biggest fans of ZeroScan for its simplicity and utility. I rely heavily on apps like this to troubleshoot HomeKit.
