Zipcar: cars on-demand

The membership fee is the only way this company stays in business. The cars were never available and if they were, the app didn’t work. I was surprisingly charged a renewal fee which I was not forewarned about and had no idea I signed up for automatic subscription. When I tried to change my account membership, the app crashed!

You’ll pay over $30 for the application fee. There are no refunds once you reserve a car no matter the situation.

Their website was glitching completely, and had me rented my license multiple times. It wouldn’t submit my application for 12 hours, so I waited the next morning and submitted my things finally, just for my application to get instantly rejected. I called, and I encountered the rudest people I have ever met. They refused to listen to me and when I asked to speak with a supervisor they tried hanging up on me, which they did. Twice. I finally got a manager and he refused to listen to the issue and just told me that my application got rejected and I will *never* be able to use zipcar.

They won’t approve you over the slightest inconsistency and I don’t think that makes sense.

This app is nice and all because you get to experience new cars and lay hands on driving. During my experience it was good but only thing that has been bothering is that I rented a car through this app and turned out that the car couldn’t be located, I called customer service and they also couldn’t locate the car. I ask them for a refund instead and they said it will take approximately 3-5 days and it has been a week and an a half heading to 2 weeks now and still haven’t receive any refund from them.

I was a long time customer resubmitting an application. I just submitted payment on the website with the application. My card’s identity theft protection denied the transaction, I approved it, and was told I had 1 hour to complete the transaction. Now, because the transaction was protected from theft, my account was disabled, I call support, and they said my application was denied and I am permanently suspended from being able to become a customer! All because my credit card company has identity theft protection! What a horrible experience. Your support and online UX is about 25 years outdated. I wasted my morning. And now I am literally banned from giving you my money because my bank protected me! I’ve never in all my life experience had such a ridiculous interaction, where a company made it so literally impossible for you to spend your money as a customer and sign up. I’m disgusted.

Spend your money elsewhere. Just not here

Don’t sign-up for ZipCar if you need a car right away. The website says “Instantly book cars near you.” After you pay they tell you that it takes a couple of business days and Customer Service refuses to refund. I had to pay for something that I couldn’t use the day my car wouldn’t start making my problem even worse and still no car.

I tried to sign up for Zipcar but it didn’t let me finish my account set up - the screen just stayed white whenever I try to do so. I tried on multiple devices through the app and the web site, different browsers, different operating systems, but all had the same issue.

The verification set up on this app is AWFUL. The camera doesn’t work, you can’t upload images, and whenever you go back it erases all of your progress. I couldn’t even finish signing up because the user experience is so flawed. Do better.
