Advanced English Dictionary

Believe the description and preview, it’s all there. For all that it’s rich in features it’s not heavy to use. Quickly drill down to whichever aspect of the word or description is needed. An excellent app imv which will stay with me. Fully agree with the other reviewers.

Great dictionary

Exactly what I wanted and the implementation is both innovative and very effective. With this app, it is hard to hit a dead end searching for a word. It's the most comprehensive dictionary I've ever seen, I haven't to date come across a word that hasn't been in it. Additionally, you don't need to be connected to Internet to actually use this app. I have used a lot of dictionaries in my life, but none is better.

Gave it 5 stars as anything less is being picky! It's not the OED but in my opinion does everything I need. Highly recommended. But, what's the difference between this one and the Concise English Dictionary!

First-rate App

As comprehensive a dictionary as one requires at base, and on the move. Definitions at one's fingertips ..... literally. Astonishingly good value!

Sporadic need, delivers every time.

Can't count how many times I've thought, 'I think I know what that means, but someone's just said it and I want to check what he/she really means.' Indispensable, always there, worth many times more than the cost.

Not so 'advanced'

This dictionary has quantity but not quality as it's far too concise. Should be described as 'basic' dictionary, not 'advanced'. Nothing like the descriptiveness you'd expect from a decent dictionary so useless to me I'm afraid.

I have been using this dictionary for two years and would not be without it. Excellent in all respects. Never had a moments problem with the interface. Heartily recommend it. So quick and easy to use that my paper dictionaries are rarely used these days.

As intuitive and vocab rich as an app can be. A must have for any who want 2 enrich their vocabulary.

Outstanding Dictionary App!

Intuitive and easy to use, Advanced English Dictionary provides you with a snippet to preview the word's definition before you even need to enter the word entry itself to see the complete definition along with synonyms and antonyms. You can access all the information offline too, store bookmarks of words so you can utilise it as a vocabulary builder. It would be useful to be able to synchronise bookmarks and history across all ios devices using iCloud, in a similar way to Wikipanion+. Another great addition the developers might consider is having the ability to search for a word that contains text such as "phobia" which would essentially give a list of all the phobias listed in the dictionary. All in all, this is the best dictionary that I've come across. Better than all of the expensive dictionaries in the App Store. A few small tweaks would turn this into an amazing vocabulary builder and word search tool.
