This is pretty poor. It won’t even allow me to import documents from Drive or Dropbox or even from my files on iPad. It just doesn’t react to anything selected. Such a waste of time
EDIT:
I’m not sure why the developer has posted the generic “We’re sorry to hear about your bad experience. Please contact us” message. I contacted them multiple times before leaving this review and they basically told me to push off. Once they’ve got your money, they don’t care at all. Definitely avoid this App!!
Still finding its feet as an app, & £90.00…
… is more about what I’d pay as a V. 1.0 ‘Upgrader’.
It’s still relatively young in its version 2.0 cycle, so, understandably there’ll be issues, for a while. (I’m not sure if/what the beta programme was, but you’d think they’d iron out a lot of issues, no?)
Now, see; I’m not criticising the app suite, I’m simply giving an opinion. So, team, no need to jump in with any comments, I’m convinced it’ll get there, and I’ll be on board.
Final comment:
Version 1.0 Users have been there from the start. They’ve helped to shape the scenery and the nomenclature of the apps. Therefore; by all means - new users - £169.99 ☑ Loyal users - £89.99 Max 👍🏻
Not easy to start, poor manuals and tutorials, No templates.
One problem after another, I cannot get a booklet started. Inserting page numbers problematic. Facing page display hit and miss No templates included Keeps freezing Help system is useless Manuals are worst I have ever come across Do I need to go on?
EDIT I do need to go on, 4 months for the response to be posted.
The PC app works well, I simply do not use the iPad app now.
Not yet there, Mouse support!
As much as i love the idea of this on the ipad, it has got its flaws in regards to mouse support, i own a third party mouse that works fine on most apps but seems not be able to scroll and move on the pages, the only thing it works for is general cursor movement and clicking but lacks the full connectivity to make it feel like a desktop app.
hope this gets added or fixed
as others wrote
bought the program months ago and I am asked for an account I don't care about. Sign this, sign that, reload, unload, upload. Big thumbs down!
Huge HUGE App. Amazing value
Publishing. Proper publishing is very complex. Affinity’s wonderful software is truly remarkable that such an elaborate and fiddly process has been translated to a touch interface.
The sheer volume of features available is astounding. The scope- enormous.
How people can be so snarky about something so enormous and fully featured, and for such a small amount of money is beyond me.
I’ve published using Pages before now, but I am determined to translate my working methods to Affinity so I can make alterations quicker and easier than I could before, lightening my workload considerably.
There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube so I have been brought up to speed fairly quickly, and I’ve already converted some Pages documents over to the new system with relative ease. Admittedly, there is work involved in this crossover which does take some time- not Affinity’s fault- it’s the nature of swapping systems, but not all the work is lost, and once you get a rhythm going, it’s doable.
So glad I now have this on my ipad. It’s made my life so much easier.
BUG - NON FEATURE
Constant harassment to create an account that I DO NOT NEED OR WANT!!!! Every-time I open the app, I PAID FOR.
Please remove this NON FEATURE. People purchased your apps, some have iCloud+ and do not require another account with a 3rd party!
This annoying NON FEATURE was not in ver 1.0.
Can’t edit imported PDFs, Can’t import Pages, Can’t group text boxes, No collaboration
A huge fan of Affinity Designer and Photo, I was waiting with anticipation for Publisher to finally make its way to iPad. Sadly, unlike its cousins, this app will be useless to many on the iPad as it can not open and edit imported PDFs properly. Designer and Photo can open and edit just about anything you have on your iPad. But Publisher’s import options are so limited (no Apple Pages docs) that most of your documents will have to be imported as PDFs. That would be fine except that the app will break all paragraphs of text in your documents into individual lines of separate text boxes. This means you can not edit anything more than one single line of text. It’s a publishing app! Astonishingly, there is no way to overcome this: no import options to ‘group lines of text into boxes’, and not even a way to select a pile of single-line text boxes and group them into a paragraph. According to those complaining on the forums, the only way around this problem is to import your PDF docs to the Desktop version of Publisher (which doesn’t break up your paragraphs of text) and then export them to the iPad! For people like me with a library of hundreds of documents I need to edit, this huge oversight renders the app of little practical use. You also can’t collaborate with colleagues on documents which, in today’s world, will be another big issue for many. If the authors can make the app import paragraphs of text as paragraphs of text by default, I will update my review, but for now - astonishingly - they’ve stated there are no plans for this.
Beware of V2
The description states this app has full integration with other Affinity apps, but that is not the case. You cannot utilise studio link with V1 of either Photo or Designer, you have to have v2 of both of them also.
Raised this with Serif direct and asked for a refund for this app so I could look at purchasing the entire V2 suite. I was basically told to ‘push off’
Replacement for PagePlus
Disappointed as now no facility now to produce calendars easily.
Will have to go back to PagePlus which is now rather out of date and no longer supported.
I had looked forward to this version as can be used on the iPad pro. as well.
