"Age of Rivals feels like a breath of fresh air in an App Store drowning in more traditional collectible card games" - 148Apps.com - 5/5 stars
"...there's a depth here that other games of the same length can't emulate" - Pocket Gamer - Silver Award Winner
"Gameplay is fast, very fun, and requires both an overall strategy and turn-by-turn tactics to prevail." - Pocket Tactics
Age of Rivals was inspired by strategy boardgames and designed to be ideal for 1 or 2 players to play in 10 minutes with plenty of depth and replayability. It's the "anti-deckbuilding" CCG, where having only minimal control over your deck encourages endless variety in each game and puts the focus on in-the-moment tactical decision-making.
There are NO in-app purchases. All game content unlocks at a constant pace just by playing the game.

This is a great game.
Unlike most mobile “card collector games” this one is fair and balanced. No micro transactions to give one player the advantage over the other. The strategies are diverse enough that each game feels different from the last. It’s well worth the modest price tag.
An All-Time Favorite!
I bought this game at launch and it has never left my devices! Quite simply one of the very best games on ios, card game, strategy game, just so fun and easy to get into with many strategic options. Still playing now, a true keeper! Great job devs...any chance youre making more? A sequel? I’d buy it in a second!!
Fantastic game
Great game. Easy to learn but with good gameplay depth and strategy. Keep coming back to it years after release
Excellent mid-range complexity tactical game
There's a decent amount of depth and meaningful decisions each turn. This is NOT pay-to-win. The hard computer player is still beating me 2 out of 3 games after a few dozen games, which is a very good sign.
I'm having a lot of fun, and yes, bad luck can ruin a game, but I'd say 90% of the games are competitive (unlike say 50% for say Star Realms).
This was worth well every penny.
Great Game
It feels like 7 Wonders and Fairy Tale had a kid. A fun and interactive tableau builder with a spice of direct player conflict. Highly recommend. Oh, and no stupid paywalls for anything after initial purchase, all unlockables are through in game play. Great app!
Great fun
This is a nice little card based empire builder game. Enough luck and variety to keep it interesting.
Creative and Complex
I came to this game after looking for Hearthstone got all pay-to-win, and I've been pretty happy with the results :)
Account to play no longer req'd... yay!
July 14, 2017:
After the latest update I have now played this game and find it quite enjoyable. This, and the dev's rapid response to customer complaints, raises my previous rating to five stars. Thank you Roboto!
June 26, 2017:
Thanks for your response. It's unlikely I'll try again if an account registration is still required for single player. But I appreciate that you have amended your app description and will remove the online requirement. I am increasing my rating to a neutral 3 stars (until and if I actually play the game.)
---------
I saw no warning in the description that an account had to be registered and logged into before this game could be played (presumably it is also on-line only). Had I known this I would not have purchased it as I do not care for either requirement. Without registerIng I cannot even see what the game is like so... one star rating and deleted.
I won't be requesting a refund (wouldn't at a $5 price either) but perhaps the developer could be a little more transparent in the future. As it is, I will not buy anything from this developer in the future.
My most played game ever on the IPad
Plays like a modern board game but is easy to learn and you make plenty of interesting choices. Highly recommend.
Enjoyable tactical deck building
The core game is highly tactical, with a moderate amount of luck. Interactions between players and combos are fun. Art style is very original. Game seems to be highly replayable. Some of the screens such as "open a booster pack" and "pick a chest" seem lacking in visuals, but the game effect is good. I also wish there would be less nagging to create a free online account and just let me play vs ai without hitting "not now". For those of you whom enjoy Dominion, or Caylus Card Game, I think you would also enjoy this game
