Al-Anon Family Groups

Description

Al‑Anon Family Groups is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. By sharing common experiences and applying the Al-Anon principles, families and friends of alcoholics can bring positive changes to their individual situations, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help.
The Al-Anon program is based on the Twelve Steps (adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous), which we try, little by little, one day at a time, to apply to our lives, along with our slogans and the Serenity Prayer. The loving interchange of help among members and daily reading of Al-Anon literature thus make us ready to receive the priceless gift of serenity.
The official mobile app of the Al-Anon Family Groups is designed to provide an easy way for anyone affected by someone else’s drinking to find hope and help, whether they can attend a face-to-face meeting or not.
Features include:

Really glitchy

Update… 6 months later. App still terrible. Will iPhone users ever get to add pics!?!? I’m grateful for this app but it’s really glitchy, and I hope to see some improvements.

So far so good. It looks very functionable. It would be nice to see a suggestions button..

Not In Person

It appears that these meetings are all virtual- either that or there is some secret menu for determining the location. I assumed the listed meetings were near me - but there is no way to find the address. It shouldn’t be this difficult to get support.

Kicked out of mtgs & crashes a lot

My biggest problem with this app is that the app based meetings cannot allow you to look at anything else on your phone while in the meeting, even though it uses Zoom. If you switch to something else momentarily, you’ll get kicked out of the meeting and have to rejoin. And you cannot attend the app meetings on your computer so you’re kind of stuck. The app also crashes frequently which is a problem because, again, you get kicked out of the meeting and have to rejoin. This app feels like a rough first draft.

I really love this app. My friend at camp helped me find it. It really helped for the two weeks that I had it. When I got back from a camp about 4 weeks later it was not working. I tried to get back on it but it would not let me. It was really weird. But for the time that I have it it was really helpful. Thank you so much.

App repeatedly crashes, is down for days. Currently I keep getting a message of “okay” and every single feature of the app is down. Totally unacceptable and bug filled app :(

I would really like to be able to upload a screenshot or take a picture as a reply/comment to a post in the newsfeed. This should be greatly beneficial for the next update. Thanks!
