Description

The Alert SA App is the official mobile application of the South Australian Government, designed to provide timely and relevant information on a range of hazards. Stay informed and prepared with alerts and warnings for:
· Fires
· Heatwaves
· Severe weather
· Floods
· Hazardous materials
Additionally, receive important Fire Danger Rating and Total Fire Ban information via the app.
With the Alert SA App, you can create up to 10 watch zones to receive notifications about hazards occurring in areas of interest to you. The app uses your mobile device’s GPS location and requires an internet connection to receive data.
Key Features:
Multi-Hazard Alerts: Receive notifications for various hazards, including fire, flood, severe weather, hazardous materials, and heatwaves.
Customizable Watch Zones: Set up to 10 watch zones to get alerts for specific areas.
Accessibility: Fully supports large text and voiceover features to ensure you receive information in a way that suits your needs.
Cross-Border Notifications: Get fire warnings within 100km of the border of neighbouring states and territories.
Modern User Interface: Enjoy a new, intuitive design with a dedicated onboarding screen and improved user experience.
Please note that during emergencies and extreme weather events, such as bushfires, floods, or severe storms, telecommunications services may be unreliable.
As a result, you may not receive timely information while using the app. The South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM), the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS), the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS), and the South Australian State Emergency Service (SES) recommend that you do not rely on any one single source of information during an emergency.
Download the Alert SA App today and stay informed about public information and warnings in South Australia.

Alert SA Reviews

Do not update :(

K anz on

Australia

While the latest version works - it’s a huge step backwards :( Now it Alerts for everything - 90% of these (eg tree down) are meaningless. This means people will now ignore the alerts. If you are going to have all these, allow us to choose which alerts make sense to us. I suspect for most people, it’s fires, and not these other warnings.

Help !

I’ve spent ages trying to get alerts from This app to no avail. I have an iPhone 8. There is no push notifications buttons. I’ve watched YouTube vids etc already . Does anyone know how I can fix this ? We’ve had 2 fires within a couple of kilometres from my house in the last 3 days and I wasn’t alerted

Find SA Fires app is quicker to notify of incidents & more detailed

pinging

there have already been three pings this morning, all for largely irrelevant things. pings should be for urgent matters eg fires.

Much improved but work to do

Jason’s Tim Tams on

This new app is much easier to navigate than the old one and simple changes like making the Fire Danger Ratings easily accessible and easier to use are big improvements. However, much of this good work has been undone by the decision to show every single alert in the whole state. I imagine I will soon be notified if someone stubs their toe. What if I am only interested in bushfires? No, I am not allowed to decide that for myself. Instead I am told about heatwaves I already know about and trees down I don’t care about. Most of these don’t even tell me anything. Click on some ‘incidents’ for more details and it just takes you to another map with even more incidents. All this means I have now started to ignore the notifications as there are so many and many are pointless. I could maybe see the sense of being notified on the most critical things but everything else should be optional. Even bushfire - maybe you only care about a tree down 100kms away?

Annoying new version

***Hemangioma*** on

The updated version is annoying compared to the simplicity of the old “fires only” version. Even though I selected to only be notified about fires, I am constantly receiving alerts about a tree down 20 km away from me…. Bring back the old version because in the meantime I’m deleting this app, even though that puts me at risk of not knowing about a nearby fire.

I don’t like the upgrade. It has not been well thought out in some areas. Previously it only showed bushfires and grass fires. Can I set mine to show bushfires only. I could not find an option to do that. I turned off notifications as there were too many. Why notify us about COMPETE fires? I don’t want to know about MFS ie metro house fires.

Too many irrelevant alerts dilutes the app

Coops2a on

Rely on this app for bushfire alerts. But since the update I am receiving daily alerts for irrelevant SES incidents. I don’t care if a tree is down 5km away, or if a single house 5km is having a flooding issue. But I really care if there is a bushfire coming my way. Is there a way to turn off the SES incident alerts? Please add this to the app as a fix asap. I am now ignoring most of your alerts when Im busy, as they are 99% irrelevant. I suspect others are too. But one day it will be a “real” alert (fire) and it may get missed because we will all think its just another tree down…

Watch zones too large

Biggos42 on

I like the app. I just wish I could set a radius less than 5 km. 1 km would be great and cut down on lots of unnecessary notifications
