Apollo for Reddit

Closed. Goodbye and thank you!

Published by: Christian Selig

Description

Apollo was an iOS app for browsing Reddit from 2015 to 2023. In 2023 Reddit announced significant price changes to their API, going from free to potentially costing tens of millions of dollars per year, with 30 days notice before developers would start incurring charges. As a result, Apollo was forced to shut down after the better part of a decade building for an incredible, supportive community. With over 100,000 five star ratings, and many accolades, I was incredibly proud of what Apollo accomplished.
The app now exists in a commemorative/historic state, with a thank you message, the option to unlock a Goodbye Apollo wallpaper pack, and options to export data if you had the app downloaded previously (shake the device), and all previous app icons are now automatically unlocked. You can also use the app as a hub to get updates about other things the developer (Christian Selig) is working on.
Again, thank you so much for all the years of fun, it was the honor of a lifetime building the app for all of you!

This app won’t take any of my cards (like revolut) and free version is hopeless, can’t even post. Just make an app paid in App Store like everyone else, don’t reinvent the wheel if you’re going to make it shaped like a cube

Easily the best Reddit app

Redandwhite90 on

Easily the best app to use and enjoy Reddit. The interface is very customisable and easy to use. Far better than the 1st party Reddit app

Best iPhone App by a Light Year

Not only the best Reddit client available on any OS, but the best iPhone app in general. So much customisation and so much fun to use.

That alone should be enough to prove that this guy a) knows what he’s doing and b) cares about great app development. I’m quite sad and disappointed in Reddit and their greed which basically killed the best Reddit app.

So sad

This was the best app for Reddit hands down. I had been using it from a very early stage (not quite the beginning but I think 2015) and only used it until it was no more. I still randomly check to see if it’s back up, but I suppose it won’t be.
