Apollo was an iOS app for browsing Reddit from 2015 to 2023. In 2023 Reddit announced significant price changes to their API, going from free to potentially costing tens of millions of dollars per year, with 30 days notice before developers would start incurring charges. As a result, Apollo was forced to shut down after the better part of a decade building for an incredible, supportive community. With over 100,000 five star ratings, and many accolades, I was incredibly proud of what Apollo accomplished.
The app now exists in a commemorative/historic state, with a thank you message, the option to unlock a Goodbye Apollo wallpaper pack, and options to export data if you had the app downloaded previously (shake the device), and all previous app icons are now automatically unlocked. You can also use the app as a hub to get updates about other things the developer (Christian Selig) is working on.
Again, thank you so much for all the years of fun, it was the honor of a lifetime building the app for all of you!

I’m In Pieces
I am still broken inside because this app had to shut down. It was unrivalled in used experience and actually made reddit fun.
I open this app on a regular basis just to cry a little bit and reminisce the good timed that I had using this app.
Thanks for everything Apollo, you will be missed.
Way better than Reddit! In every way
Reddit was mad jealous that Apollo was out performing them in app development.
Apollo will be King forever👑
R.I.P Apollo better than Reddit ever was

THIS should be the official Reddit App
Here’s an idea, why don’t Reddit buy this app as their own official app ?
Best Reddit App on iOS
This is honestly the best reddit app on iOS! Sadly, thanks to the API changes that reddit will be implementing, Apollo will be shutting down on the 30th of June 2023.
Apollo - The reason I can use Reddit
Christian, what you’ve done for this app and the Reddit community cannot be encapsulated sufficiently in words. Aside from creating a sleek, beautiful and swift app, you’ve tackled the core principles of what makes a great experience.
The app alone allows for the most optimal Reddit experience: no ads, seeing posts from relevant subs, no ads, no intrusive posts from truly unlinked sub-Reddits, and biggest of all: No Ads.
Please know what you’ve done has had the biggest impact to the farthest reaches and beyond. Thank you.
It’s been a wild ride
This app has been with me for the past 5-6 years. In that time I discovered how Reddit truly should be experienced. It’s truly world-shattering knowing that this app will be gone by the end of the month, as it means I’m going to be deleting my account and moving on. To Christian I would like to say that I’m eternally grateful for the effort you put into this app, it truly turned into something amazing. I’d also like to thank you for putting effort on being a part of the community and making us feel special as users of Apollo :) what started as an app ended as something more.
Farewell, old friend
This was the best Reddit app ever made. It was the only truly great way to use the platform. As of June 30 2023, a backhanded and poorly communicated policy change will render it and every other third party app, as well as many crucial Reddit moderation tools, unusable.
Spez has failed and deserves to watch his company die.
I’m sorry for Christian and every other developer who worked tirelessly to made Reddit so much fun. I’m hopeful that I’ll have the privilege of paying for Chris’ next masterpiece.
As for Reddit itself, I’m going to find the best and most fitting way to purge my account. Preferably something that leaves an ugly stain on the ole IPO.
Au revoir !
Best app ever
I’m going to miss you Apollo. You are reddit. Nothing will replace you. Thank you for everything over the years, Christian. Much love.
