Overcast is back, baby!
How to destroy a great app
Major rewrites are supposed to improve apps. That is unless it’s Overcast. Went from simple and easy to use to a mess. What a shame.
Just so goooood
Overcast has become even better with the latest major release. While there were a few bugs early on, they were quickly eliminated and it is faster and more responsive than ever. It has taken a few days to get used to, but the new layout is more intuitive than before. Have used Overcast for very many years and would not consider another podcast app, this one is too goooood.
Best podcast player bar none.
I would literally switch to Apple (if I wasn’t already an Apple user) just so that I could use Overcast. It’s brilliant; you can tell it’s been designed by a true podcast enthusiast. There is no conceivable feature missing, yet it’s pleasant and easy to use. It makes the Apple Podcast app look like the an early version of DOS.

Used to be good
Overcast used to be the premier podcast app on iOS, but slowly deteriorated over time. I had high hopes for the re-write, but this version is so buggy to the point of being unusable. Not recommended.
Simple. Brilliant.
I’ve been using Overcast as my main podcast app for years now (tried Apple, Spotify, blah before), and I JUST found out it’s all run by one guy! Made me appreciate it so much more. I genuinely thought there must be a whole company behind this because it’s so good. Simple. No frills. And yet can go into the detail settings you like.
Lost all downloaded episodes when no data
I don’t usually rate Apps but when such a great app updates and shoots itself so badly in the foot to go from a 5 star to unusable then need to comment. I don’t use mobile data so only us via WiFi, and listen to podcasts have downloaded when out and about. The latest update seems to have lost all my playlists and downloads as soon as I walk out the door… so 0 star rating.
Best by far
Overcast is the ONLY podcast app I use. Can’t recommend the premium subscription enough!!
