Night of the Full Moon Reviews

Awesome game; problematic English-language version

HeathJ on

Australia

I’ve spent hours and hours playing the different variations of Night of the Full Moon, and still can’t get enough of it. There is so much to do, with essentially 3 games in one, and each of those having multiple characters, subsidiary character builds, and/or teams of characters, with tonnes of cards and unique abilities. Re-playability is central to everything. Unfortunately, over time, the English-language version has become worse and worse. At first, the language wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t matter because it was entirely understandable. There were occasional issues with formatting, where the English text cut off at the end of a card, because the frames were designed for Chinese characters and the English text on long cards went out of bounds. Then there was a big update to the English at some point, and a bunch of the non-standard but clear English was replaced with very non-standard and sometimes confusing English. One of the most common examples is for expressions like “When card attacks, double attack”, which on some cards means “Whenever this card attacks, this card doubles its attack”, but on others it means “Whenever any card attacks, that attacking card doubles its attack”, and on others still it means “Whenever this card attacks, all other cards double their attack” or “Whenever another card attacks, this card doubles its attack”. It ends up being a 25% chance you interpret the card properly. And then, fairly recently, there was another update in which the font size was enlarged. Now, it’s no longer a rare problem that English text is cut off because it exceeds the frame - instead it is a frequent problem. Fantastic game and still worth playing - but be prepared for a lot of accompanying frustration if using the English version.

Greedy and dishonourable devs

Used to love this amazing game. Now the devs have tarnished their game with multiple forms of DRM and complicated online only log in to their servers that don’t work. At first they outwardly thanked the maker of Dream Quest (the game they took every idea from for this game) but now they shamelessly cash grab, change payment methods (from one off price to ‘consumable ‘candies’) for content and restrict playtime to online only, even when their servers are down. This isn’t GTA Online, it’s a single player iOS card game. I used to respect these developers, I bought every dlc and other (permanent) items because I loved the game and wanted to support. So disappointed. Talent completely wasted.

10/10

This is the greatest app I’ve come back over and over again to play. Cannot complain as it is always changing with different hero’s and villains, different card combinations and a lot of game types you can play

Changed how you buy

The devs have changed it so that in In order to buy extra game modes, you need to verify your account with two different forms of login. To us westerners, you only have one choice - Facebook and Apple ID. The other options are all Chinese and do t work. Devs, I’m not creating a Facebook account to make a purchase when you used to just let me use my Apple ID. I want to pay for your product, I’ve bought all previous extras, but only giving me Facebook as a secondary verification method means I will never buy anything from you again. Bad decision.

Excellent Game!

Super fun! Everything looks and feels polished. English localisation has some minor issues but doesn’t affect enjoyment. Game has a high pitched sound when blessings, equipment, buffs or debuffs go down. It really hurts my ears and an option to turn it off would be great as the rest of the audio is excellent.

After I’ve linked the account to my fb, the game prompts me to login every time I open the app. After a few days it stopped letting me play, asking for Chinese ID number in Chinese…
