Awesome

I found out about Appblock from a Japanese YouTuber Samurai Matcha, so I thought I’d give it a try. With Apple, you can easily choose to give yourself more time on apps and websites by clicking: one more minute, 15 more minutes, or unlock for the rest of the day. On Appblock you can’t do that unless you go into the app and manually deselect it. Even then, if you do that two or three times Appblock asks if you want strict mode; a mode where you will no longer be able to select or deselect apps(for the time). I love how it tells you how many times you tried to open an app. To be honest, I found out about the above feature because I tried to give myself more time on apps. I only downloaded this a week ago and I’ve already spent less time on my phone and been much more productive. 10/10 app, I definitely recommend

Easy PIN code work arounds. I

1. Settings-Screen time-App Block (switch off) It doesn’t matter if you have a pin enabled, the app still says it’s blocking, but the phone doesn’t allow it to block anything… 2. If you don’t notice the setting to require a PIN code to delete the app then it is a simple app delete and everything is unblocked. Pretty pathetic work arounds if you ask me, especially since I paid $39.99 for the year.

have to pay money for things that already come with the phone

wind-down is useless but if you have a couple apps that you only want tops 30 minutes with then that works (you have to pay for anymore time). besides that it’s charging way too much. if you pick a blocking time it will only do one day you pick and u have to pay for multiple days to have the same block which is outrageous.

Website Blocking Only Works in Quick Block

Like the review says, there is no way to block websites with the schedule function, only in quick block. I don’t want to have to enter quick block every time I go to use the app. This is very frustrating and a pretty obvious oversight considering the app is pretty expensive. This was the main reason I bought the app, I’m not happy.

Easy to cheat.. Ridiculous.. Very disappointed…

One can just disable the appblock from the Screen Time, in Settings, and no matter how strict your restrictions were set, the app stops working and the “bad stuff” you wanted to block is available again. There is a trick to block opening the settings using Shortcuts, but it is easy to beat as well, because there is a second delay, and one can easily disable the app using this second. After few attempts Don’t know what to do. Interestingly, on one of my tablets, the app works well, and I can’t disable it from the screen time. The rest of my devices can use this trick. Including my phone. Too bad…..

Not the best first impressions…

When I first discovered this app, I thought it’d make the perfect, strict app blocker. Based on all the reviews, I expected an app that worked like a charm. However, I have noticed a few problems that completely drove me away from the app: When it comes to quick block, you can’t set a specific duration, unlike other app blockers like freedom, which is a questionable design choice because I don’t want to always block for 4 hours. You’ve already limited the blocking time to 4 hours for the free plan, why not allow me to at least adjust it, even if it means only like: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours. Something like that, and then allow for specific times for the paid plan. Another thing, for some reason you can just turn off a quick blocking session anytime, and that COMPLETELY defeats the purpose of this app blocker. What the heck. I thought this was meant to be a “strict app blocker.” How do you expect me to use the quick session when I can just turn it off any time. What’s the point. I don’t get it, I just don’t get it. 🤦🏻‍♂️ So much for reducing screen time. Complete missed potential. I want to like this app, I really do, but these are terrible first impressions. At least take into account my problems.

Doesn’t work

When I try to set up blocking, when I was about the select “information and reading” category, a blank screen pops up, and I couldn’t get rid of it without going losing all the blocked apps I selected.

Stuck in strict mode

The app is good and did as intended, what happened to me is that I actually just strict mode and put too much time in it and couldn’t use many of my apps for longer than expected, but after reaching out to the developers, I was able to get a code to deactivated, so I am satisfied with the product.

Would be perfect if the block is synced

Love the app. However, it would be perfect if the block is synced through all devices( i.e. if blocked on iphone will also block on ipad) instead of manually start blocking in each device
