Love this app

Love this app! Is the easiest way to get Apple news. It could be even better it adds Dark mode support. Keep going!

Content Loading Issues

ceffler2004 on

United States

Once this app was amazing and always up to date and now the app fails to load article content. I am always met with the message, “problem loading articles, please check your connection and try again.” This persistent issue makes the app unless for staying updated with the latest news and so I have to fall back on Mac rumors or another outlet not that I don’t like the content from Apple insider but I want the notifications of new updates.

New price to much for me

Love this app. Been using for years under subscription. The upcoming price hike is way too much.

SEARCH is a major FAILURE

Steel Drums on

United States

Search today on “AirPod” or “firmware” and the results list is empty. Pull down to refresh and theatesr results are Apr 28. COLOSSAL FAILURE AND ABSOLUTELY USELESS. Google search engine surfaced the Sep 13 2023 article easier and when AI’s own search feature produced the garbage they spewed out - And I am paying the ridiculous subscription fee! No way! CANCELLED!!! More value is needed for $30/year. Especially when the subscript doesn’t even carry over to online reading. No ads and saving favorites is no justification for a $20 increase when the app doesn’t even get updated with needed improvements, editing of many articles and even seasoned writers is shoddy at best - a “fire and forget” approach to journalism, the Search feature is absolutely USELESS at returning even the most obvious results, and more than a few articles each month are published with only the first few lines or paragraphs.

Price

I’ve been happy to support the writers/team. However to go from $9.99/yr to $29.99/yr without adding significant value? I just don’t understand the economics. (Economics BA’87). Anyways when Apple iOS just notified me of the increase I chose not to renew. I raised my hourly fee by 20% since 2019 which is less than the inflation my household has experienced. Really 3x price increase. I just don’t get it. Maybe if 2/3rds cancel they will back down on their price increase.

App Needs Some Attention

Perhaps Appleinsider app developers are monitoring some of the feedback. Most recent app version (released nearly 6 months ago), is buggy and continues to have issues opening. “Latest News” screen is blank with an “oops” error that content is not available. With the rollout of recent Apple products/software at the June WWDC, one would think that that an update would have been released to ensure things run smooth. Plenty of feedback offered earlier from other users, and it seems like there has been a pause from developers in supporting the app. Hoping this changes as Appleinsider has been a good source for news. From content coverage and speed of posting/publish, 9TO5Mac is another option worth checking out.

This app was great, not anymore.

I enjoyed reading Apple News on this app. However it became worse than previous updates.

Subscription price increase is insane

Fattmaxx2 on

United States

Been reading AI for years and it has been my “go to” source for Apple news. But a couple of things - * redesigned app - not great. The new “featured stories section hides new News. * the price increase on the subscription - are you guys insane? $9.99/year to $29.99/year as a year over year increase?!? You’re good, but not a 3x increase in annual price good. Buh-bye AI Pro, welcome back to regular AI. 🤯

Bad UI

RunGooseRun on

United States

The most recent update added a “featured articles” section at the top. I’m not going to scroll around to try to find other new articles. Now I open the app, see the same article and close it. Before the update, the AI app was my go to for Apple related info. If I had an option to just see all the articles chronologically (like a setting option) I would give AI 4 or 5 stars.

News is hidden

chroko29 on

I didn’t realize for quite a while that there were even new articles. I just thought, man AppleInsider has gone downhill they stopped putting out any new articles. Just now I realized that if you scroll WAY down the page you will eventually come across new news articles. I’m not a fan. I like AppleInsider a lot but this update is not good
