AstraChat - Direct XMPP & VOIP

I have try some other chat like im+ or jabber, the ads is very irritating. Found this great app without the ads. I would pay couple bucks if gtalk and fb chat can run at the same time with my corporate chat. 5 star to encourage the developer :D

Light weight and fast Does exactly what I was after. Secure connection and file sharing, easy setup.

There's so many XMPP chat client I've try ( IM+, Monal, Talkonaut, etc) but I think AstraChat is better. It's light size app, simple, clean and have a good looking interface. VoIP feature also useful for me. Most of all it's very nice chat app for iPhone user!

I love this IM, simple design, stable connection and work very well when i chat with my friends in facebook or Gtalk, they even have VOIP! Also the important thing there is no annoying ads like IM+. Really recommended!!!

I can’t even connect to an add account. Useless app. Using IPad Pro bought in July 2023, attempted to use app on March 18th 2024. Please fix!

Sent a picture to one of my contacts. Instead of it going to the person, AstaChat uploaded it to their servers! 🤯😡 It didn’t ask me first. All it says is “Your friend sent an image via AstraChat. Download (the app) at (our website) to see the image.” WHAT A MASSIVE PRIVACY VIOLATION.

I have my own xmpp server prosody running on a pi3. Desktop clients connect fine using pidgin. And this program used to work. Then there was an update, and all attempts to connect fail so I tried deleting and re-creating the ID on this app no luck. I tried uninstalling the app entirely and reinstalling it still no luck. Attempt to connect sit there for so many seconds and then fail. No useful error message nothing in the XMPP server log. If I put in an invalid login and password, it fails immediately so there is a communication attempt which is successful to the point where it fails. They’ve obviously changed something beyond just updating it for the new iOS. If you can get it to work it’s a fine chat program. Good luck.

Need more updates to the app don’t have an option to join groups but if you add the same existing group you’ll join it iPhones are not notified of incoming messages unless they are running the app not sure why but other apps I’ve tried have the same issue but what’s the point really androids don’t have this problem but I’ll continue to use this app because I do like it it’s the only universal app across platforms and for that I’m grateful I only use it for my self hosted server I also love the p2p voip feature
