Description

The Avi-on Home app enables customers of GE-branded Bluetooth devices to operate in-wall and plug-in switches using their smartphone. Avi-on no longer has a contractual relationship with the manufacturer, Jasco Products, or any duty to support GE by Jasco Products, and these products are no longer being sold. Avi-on continues to support these devices solely as a courtesy to existing users.
Avi-on Home is a fully-secured system that requires both login and location services. Login ensures that no one else can operate your lights. Location enables you to use sunrise and sunset with your schedules. Once programmed locally, the schedules will operate without the Internet or your phone nearby.
To control GE-branded devices via wi-fi, an Avi-on Remote Access Bridge is required. All schedules and settings are saved on a Bluetooth chip inside each device. Avi-on enables many users to control many devices through a single account. Your account and settings are saved in the Avi-on cloud, providing instant back-up. If you want wi-fi access, 24/7 clock synchronization, and/or Alexa compatibility, install an optional Avi-on Remote Access Bridge (RAB).
How do you get started?
· Power any Avi-on compatible device by wiring it or plugging it in (plug-in switch or dimmer, in-wall switch or dimmer, or outdoor switch)
· Use a current smartphone or tablet with current OS with Bluetooth and with strong wi-fi access
· Download the latest version of the Avi-on Home App. Register your account and password. Check spam folder for verification and password emails
· Stand near the powered device(s). Press the big + button to add your first device. FAQs are here: http://bit.ly/2F9KaAx

Poor connection technology

bob98764335678 on

Takes forever to connect and often reconnects while you’re trying to control the device. Half I time I end up just walking over to the switch and working it manually. I’m in range and have a good Bluetooth signal. Will swap for WiFi switches.

it works, BUT

it's unreliable! Especially for a physically disabled person! The external boxes ALWAYS need adjusting, and I cannot do that.

Terrible

Works sparely when the app wants to

don’t bother

complete waste of money. bought the bluetooth plug in switch to turn a set of string lights on and off without having to plug them in over and and over again since the outlet is behind a table. apparently, anyone within range can connect to your device- and unless they disconnect- you can no longer connect to your device. so one of my neighbors, somewhere has connected and i can no longer use my bluetooth switch unless i go door to door asking people to disconnect from something im sure they don’t even realize they connected to (or maybe their kids connected to?) and to please never make that mistake again. wow. how did these people get any sort of contract with GE or target to sell this garbage is beyond me. (they were able to connect to my device when i wasn’t home as you have to be next to the device for it to establish connection, so unless i sit and continually refresh my bluetooth availability waiting for when the person currently connected goes out of range i will never be able to re-hijack my own device. unplugging it does nothing)

System all together

Cameras don’t work anymore. Tried many things to fix and nothing will get them back to working. Do not invest into.

Crashes immediately on startup after update

Loved this app when it used to work. But after the latest update it crashes immediately after I open the app. Tried rebooting. No luck. Tried updating my IOS version. No luck. Just won’t work.

Every update = more app issues

11/13/2022 LATEST UPDATE: Once again, the app stopped working after the update AGAIN! This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!! Does anyone bother to test before releasing these updates? I have absolutely had it with this nonsense. My GE device has been rendered useless AGAIN since the app won’t even open now. Thanks for more headaches & wasting more of my time. 11/12/2021UPDATE: Here we go again, another update & the app won’t work, so I can’t control the GE Bluetooth device AGAIN! QUIT breaking this app with updates that cause nothing but issues for the users! I’ve had my GE Bluetooth timer for almost 3 years & each time there’s an update to the app or an IOS upgrade, the app won’t connect. In the past Avi-on’s support has been able to provide instructions to resolve the issue, however no such luck this time. I updated my iPhone to IOS 13 & ever since the app gives the following error message: “Please turn Bluetooth on. In order to use Avi-on, the Bluetooth radio on your phone must be ON.” I’ve had no issues with any other apps or Bluetooth devices since the IOS 23 update - only the Avi-on app. The GE timer is still following the schedule & can be operated manually, but that defeats the purpose, especially when I need to change the schedule which is only available in the app! After 5 days of being asked to repeatedly follow the same exact steps by Avi-on support, only to get no results or resolution, I’m ready to find a different Bluetooth timer with a more stable & user friendly app. I’m beyond frustrated with all the time wasted trying to fix a problem that shouldn’t exist. Apparently I’m the only person experiencing this issue with IOS 13, though I’m inclined to believe others may not have contacted Avi-on support or just gave up.

Was Great/Now is Broken

Finoguy on

Have used it for front door lighting for several years, and it worked great. With latest update, it’s broken. Can’t connect to it, so can’t update the schedule/timing of when it comes on.

Can’t login

88 Keyz on

United States

The latest version crashes when I try to login, every time. I have deleted the app and reinstalled, to no avail. My outdoor lights are working now but the next power outage I have will change that. When power is restored, I’ll have no way to fix schedules for my landscape lighting.

A great idea poorly executed… still

I stopped using the app a few years ago because of constant glitches and unresponsiveness. I just decided to update and give it a try again. I had forgotten my password so I figured I’d tap the ‘Forgot Password’ button… Should i be surprised that it doesn’t work? Nothing happens. Looking at the improvements addressed with the update I see that Login enhancements is one of them. I guess I needed this to finally delete and never look back. Thanks for the reminder of how frustrating this app has always been and continues to be.
