Avid Control FAQ
Is Avid Control free?
Yes, Avid Control is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Avid Control legit?
⚠️ The Avid Control app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
I have a Mac Book Pro and and iPad and iPhone. It was easy to download. Yes, you need to download and install EuControl but the entire process of setting this up took me 20 minutes. Everything worked smoothly and it was easy to bring the power of working in Pro Tools to my other devices. I had no problems at all, just was patient and watched two videos to get all the settings I needed, including setting up the time-saving soft keys in EuControl that show up in the Avid Control app. Love it!
Of course
I didn’t have high hopes for this to work and it doesn’t. Avid really doesn't focus on the project, home studio market anymore. I don’t blame them. The big format studios and commercial studio markets are booming businesses these days. What is wrong with that company? Product manager should be sent packing.
Decent app….poor instructions
The app itself isn’t bad for a free app at all tbh…..the problem is bad instructions on Avids part….Ive been using it off and on the past 4 years and the biggest issue has been setting it up and Avid needs to do a step by step VIDEO on setting it up as it always seems to change….for instance the latest version of ProTools has changed how you enable Eucon and I had zero help getting it set up with instructions from Avid but a Facebook user forum helped me set it up…..I believe this app would get a much higher rating if there were a little more effort on Avids part as far as instructions go
Worked for 1 week then broke my heart
You gotta think that at some point we’re gonna look back at all this mismatched incompatibility software nonsense and just cry a river of tears. Why are we still dealing with these issues? Why is avid so far behind? How come things work for a few days and then things update and nothing works anymore and why am I still writing the same types of reviews 25 years after the first one? will nothing ever change? Will I live a life as a frustrated artist where none of the software garbage works? Just so fed up. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m so tired of being in the moment of inspiration and having to drop what I’m doing and deal with avid. I just hate this company so much. I don’t even know how to describe it. They are the antithesis of creativity in the enemy of inspiration. Nothing ever works… there’s always some bug and there’s always some update that makes this entire system break down like a house of cards. I can’t describe my frustrations with this company without wanting to smash up their hardware and my phone.
Will not prompt to register
The instructions for this application clearly state that it will prompt you to register the app with your avid account, however no such prompt appears when you open the app and so you cannot download the partner software for your desktop. Do not bother to download this software because you will find yourself in a world of frustration.
This app is trash
I was thinking of buying the S1 control surface but will never buy it because you need Avid Control for it. One day it works, then all of a sudden it’s no longer working. Once my pro tools subscription ends I’ll probably not renew it.
NOT FOR IOS 17
There are so many bad reviews about how terrible this app is. But Zyhis app is only rated for iOS 13-16. So the only reason it isn’t working is because Avid hasn’t bothered to update the app for the latest software. I can’t even get my computer and my iPad to communicate through thud app. Just be patient and don’t be so harsh.
Fast and reliable control surface.
Absolutely amazing to see features that used to cost thousands of dollars packaged up for free with Avid Control. Big thumbs up. I have it running 24/7 in a pro studio. Near flawless performance.
Won't Work Without Forking Over Some Dough
Yeah, you can download the app for free, but it only works if you got an activation card with an (expensive) paid Avid hardware controller. It would be nice if they told you that here. Typical Avid.
Hail Olympia!
Why are most of us not seeing this app work? The developer says download Eucon but all routes just take you back to this useless app. Avid isn’t big on helping anymore since they recently moved on up to Mt. Olympus, leaving us mortals to try and sort out this Calculus & fend for ourselves.
