Really Confusing

I really WANT to love Beanstack. My local library is using it for a summer reading challenge and I was stoked, thinking it was a great idea to get into the habit of reading more. Then I tried using the app and found myself very disappointed by how confusing it is. I don’t often finish a book in a single day, but I don’t keep track of the minutes I read either. I tried to log a book I read over the course of 5 days and for some reason it logged it as my reading 5 books…or rather, as my having read the same book 5 times. I could find no way to fix it, only to delete that entirely from my reading log, and now it won’t let me go back and log that reading I did last week. I guess you can’t log your reading retroactively? The website isn’t much better. I could find no instructions as to the proper way to log. There is nothing in the FAQ about it, or about how to fix a mistake in the log. I could keep trying to puzzle it out on my own I guess, but the difficulty using Beanstack detracts from the pleasure I get from reading, so I likely won’t bother. It’s a great idea in theory, and it’s a shame that in practice it’s so difficult.

Great app, little flaws

I love how this tracks my reading. It struggles to read the book codes though, so I end up manually inputting all the information and taking pictures of the covers myself.

Nearly perfect

Just missing an Apple Watch version for the timer. Would be nice not to have to have my phone around all the time while I’m reading (more tempting to browse lol). Widgets would be a great addition as well for the timer. Quicker to setup than having to go to the app all the time.

Needs features

I I would like to be able to add several days of reading at once. I’d also like to be able to undo it when I accidentally mark a book as finished.

I hate that you can only add ten books without going unlimited. It doesn’t have any information about how to get into the summer reading challenge.
