Timer stops when you turn off the iPad. Leaving it on drains the battery.

Just place your screen face down and focus on what you do.
A variety of white noise will help you focus more.
If you concentrate well, Tom will praise you.
You can change the session time in the settings.
You can reset the timer by pressing Tom's belly button.
