This app is a must, it’s excellent the information it provides and the directions are spot on. The music between information is prefect to set the mood.

Very informative app for travelling the island with local history and directions. There were places that we would have missed without the app. Coming from Australia and driving on the right hand side of the road for the first time it was great to have thorough and timely directions eg turn right after the big tree etc. This made it a lot easier to keep on the correct side of the road :) With the GPS functionality it was like having a Guide in the car with you. Also good to know that it is a Hawaiian produced app.

This app was great driving around the Volcano National Park in Hilo. Just like having a personal tour.

This is such a great audio driving guide. I really recommend it for Anton visiting Hawaii. I used the Volcano National Park tour on Hawaii Island plus to other tours on other islands and they were all fantastic! Excellent directions, beautiful background/history/cultural stories and fun for the whole family.

We decided to do the volcano tour on Big Island and were looking for some on-line information when we came across this app. It made our day! It was easy to use, easy to listen to, and very informative. Once we got it going the narration would just start up whenever an interesting landmark was coming up. Direction were clear and the stories were fun. Very clear instructions on what to do before starting out, how to Bluetooth it to the car and how it operates using GPS without using up data. Although it suggested downloading before getting on the road we started out before reading the instructions and found ourselves in low signal heading south of Kona and the download of the app was slow, but as soon as we got into good signal at Captain Cook it finished downloading and we didn't miss a thing. This is my first trip to Big Island and this tour and Shaka Guide were a highlight. Highly recommended.

We’re back for seconds. Loved our Shaka Tour of Kauai’i!! It was so informative & lead us to several hidden gems on the island we would never found. Had “High Hopes” for the 5 big island tours. Overall not bad, but lots & lots & lots of ukulele music playing for miles & miles. Andrew you have a lot of work to do to get these tours up to Shaka Standards. I’m sure you’ll get there, right now it’s a work in progress. Our concierge gave us some fantastic brochures with hidden gems and a lot great areas to check out.Had a great time with your guide but it was just so-so.

We like the concept, but it really was not executed well. The app kills itself constantly even when we changed settings to keep GPS always and allow background app. It only works about 10% of the time and GPS points do not match up well and some stuff is outdated. We drove quite far to find that a new resort totally blocks access to black sand beach. VNP does not match up well either. There is also an excessive amount of songs and some of the "tour stops" are very underwhelming such as neighborhood parks etc. Also I wish there was some heads up about the price range of certain stops and also days of operation. Hours and days of operation are so limited on Big Island. Some of the attractions are only open a few days a week, so keep that in mind. With a little work, this guide would be awesome.

We first discovered Shaka Guide in 2021 when we took our first trip to Oahu. It made our driving tour a 5 star experience - music, stories, stops along the way. When we made our plans to go to the Big Island, we bought our airfare and the Shaka Guide. The full island tour was fun. The National Volcano Park amazing! The only thing we were not prepared for is the 37 degrees when we made drove by Mauna Kea. 🥶 If you’re going to get out the car you need long pants and a jacket. I didn’t pack either of those. 😆 We were thrilled to hear Shaka is branching out to provide mainland guides of the National Parks. We will definitely be back for thirds, fourths, and more!
