Nice idea but lacking finishing touches

joayton87 on

Using this app for the Storm King Art Center guide, it’s a nice start, but lacks details, such as the tram stops and schedule, and external links don’t open. Pretty limited and its functionality. Can’t navigate you between points.

should be a website

Zcartwheel on

i don’t get the point of having to download an app to see information about arts and culture. so that they can track you? NYPL kept pushing me to get the app to see the “full exhibition “ of their Treasures. it has two videos of 2 minutes and 4 minutes. that’s all.

Let’s have some fine art

save guides??

robpreuss on

how about a way to personalize the app so we can save our favorite guides??? or put a star beside them so we can return to them easily?? thanks!

Poorly designed app that is annoying to use in a museum

ipd? on

The use case of his app is very frequently pulling your phone from your pocket/purse and quickly accessing information. QUICKLY is the important word, but it fails at that. First, every time I open the app, it freezes for 5-10 seconds. Why? Who knows. Also the back button fails to work much of the time. Let's say that I'm in a gallery, and the numbers of each artwork increases sequentially. Not all galleries do this, but probably common enough. So if I'm at artwork #405 and need to get to #406 which is right next to it, there should obviously be a button to do that, right? Nope. I have back out, and input 406. FOR EVERY SINGLE ARTWORK. so frustrating.

Very useful, but restarts every time the screen closes

X-ray YST on

Frustrating that every time the screen is closed, the app completely closes too. Getting the detail of a painting then requires multiple steps starting from choosing the museum.

Don’t Get It!

No replacements on

This is a bumbling, frustrating App that will kill all of your museum Zen. Use the museum’s audio tour if available but skip this aggravation

App to Arts and Culture

JGnclyde on

Love the new map view on the Explore screen. A guide to arts and culture in my city!

Not great

khandrew on

App works awfully with frequent crashes and some parts of interface not loading correctly. Audio is also trash with built-in player not responding half a time.

Great idea, poor execution

mtandcj on

Excellent idea to allow downloadable guide content for visiting museum, and rich with text and videos. However, you DO have to have internet (wifi or cellular) to find and open the content for the museum you are visiting. Why? Also, very annoyingly, each time the app gets switched out of memory (because you've launched other apps, etc.) you have to get online again to search for your museum and relaunch the content. Incredible that the app doesn't remember what musuem you were at literally 5 minutes previous.
