Bookmobile Audiobook Player Reviews

Unable to organise audiobooks

hd rixnen on

United Kingdom

Used to be able to organise audiobooks via web transfer, this facility does not work anymore so have moved to a different app.

Loses last position often

Jan Minar on

United Kingdom

Often loses last position, or just restarts from the beginning of the audiobook. One is reduced to manually keeping track of the current position in the book.

Too buggy. Loses its place

NC(123) on

This used to be my preferred audiobook player but it became too annoying to use as it would lose its place particularly when it was paused whilst the app was in the background (eg if I used my wireless headphones to pause audio). It’s annoying having to manually find where you left off when you unpause. I now use the Bound audiobook player which has similar functionality without these issues.

Could be great but infuriating to use.

Scuba Dupa on

United Kingdom

Could be a great app, but suffers from several bugs that makes it infuriating to use. Firstly is the fact that whenever you restart, it doesn’t restart at the place you left off. Invariably it chooses an older bookmark to start from, and you have to open the bookmarks list, select the one that was when you last stopped it, and start from there. This bug has been there ever since I’ve used it. Secondly some functions are hard / unrepeatable to find. Occasionally I need to reorder the play order of files. Getting to the edit screen appears to involve randomly tapping the top of the play screen until somehow it opens up. Maybe I’m missing something, but it’s not obvious or repeatable as far as I can tell. But the good is that adding books is straightforward with multiple ways to upload (personally I use the browser version which allows you to drag and files on your PC onto a browser page and it uploads automatically and reliably). It also accepts many file formats so that great too. But please. Fix those bugs.

Bugged galore

vickvega on

Every update is marketed as to remove existing bugs. In reality however it’s just adding more bugs while keeping the previous ones. I’ve been using the full (paid) version for close to 2 years and I’m asking the developers: Is this some kind of a joke?

Bugs

QWERTYOP123 on

Good in principle, but too many bugs. Loses your place from time to time. The final straw was when it started to play all by itself two or three times a day. Tried to contact them to report this, but no reply. The search for the perfect audiobook app goes on.

How audio book apps should be!

Pitzbull on

United Kingdom

I’ve been through loads of these apps recently and this is by far the best. It has straight forward interface for use whilst driving or other activities. But it has all the options to add audio files set out in a straight forward manner without all the flashy pointless screens. 60 days free... and a very generous £3.99 one off payment for a lifetime unlimited. And just to add it does remember where you stop and start...

Doesn’t remember where you stopped

I swear to God, I almost threw my phone into the hedge. I’m listening to a nice long audiobook, mowing the lawn with sound isolation. Bliss. The wife comes out to ask me something. I double tap to pause. Remove headphones. Chat to wife. Fire the headphones back on, double tap. It starts playing back right where I left off for about a second, then BOOM! Right back to the start of the file. Then I have to start navigating round the clunky af interface to figure out how to get it back to where I was. An exercise in frustration. I’m off to find something else.

Best audiobook app around

Claire140 on

United Kingdom

I listen to audiobooks a lot and have tried a wide variety of different apps, but none as good as this one. It just does what it’s supposed to and is very easy to use. I listen in the car a lot so the controls are perfect for that, just a tap on the main screen to stop or start, but equally listening at home is just as easy. The automatic bookmark app is one of the best things about it, you never lose your place. If you have audiobooks stored elsewhere there are a variety of import options, in my case Dropbox where you can just download directly into the app. The book layout is great, with pictures of the book you’re listening to and it’s easy to reorder by name/author etc. and delete once listened to. It’s one app I couldn’t be without and is definitely head and shoulders above any other audiobook app on the market, even the ‘main’ one!

Has all the functionalities you’d require but...

I’ve been desperately looking for a good audiobooks app with complete functionalities including custom bookmarks. Bookmobile does this and I was thrilled to discover this, unfortunately, the app is so glitchy!! Please fix these UI issues!
