Boundless FAQ
Is Boundless free?
Yes, Boundless is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Boundless legit?
⚠️ The Boundless app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
1. Lose the Profiles page. I open the app and I’m stuck there for minutes. I just want to listen to my audiobook! What is the benefit of a Profiles page? I’m the only one using this device. Why does the Profiles page always freeze? No it’s not my phone or my connection.
2. There needs to be an overall page number display or a progress percentage display. I never really know how far I am into the book unless I click on chapters, and then those chapters don’t line up with what is actually being read in the audiobook
3. I want to like Boundless, but I almost always use Libby if it all possible. I can track my progress easier on Libby and it doesn’t freeze up all the time.
I thought buggy apps were left in the 2010s
Update: my prayers have been answered and the latest update has fixed a lot of my outstanding issues. Thank you all so much. The app still crashes/times out but significantly less. Thank you for your hard work! I promise; you didn’t find a time wormhole when you downloaded this app. No you don’t have an iPod touch, this isn’t 2016, Obama is not still president, this app is just bad. I can barely log in sometimes, it freezes for upwards of 15 seconds to log into a profile (why do I need a profile? It’s my phone it’s my library), it will throw up random “loading screens” that don’t seem to have anything with what you’re trying to do. Truly the app works better if you fully disconnect it from the internet/cell service once you’ve downloaded your content. Which is pretty frustrating. Because that’s not how it should work. I regularly open the App Store praying there’s a release fixing everything but my hopes have consistently been dashed. I can appreciate that this is hard, and there’s a lot of content, and also that this is free app. This is a service I enormously love and adore and I want the best for it, which is the reason for my passion. I joke sometimes about quitting my job to join this company and help to fix these bugs but I’m sure they wouldn’t want my help after this review. But please please please try to address some of these concerns. I’m literally praying for yall.
Worthless
So buggy. Wish my library stuck with the old app and didn’t move to Boundless.
the glitchiest app i’ve used in a decade
nightmare app. desperately hoping our library switches to anything else
Glitchy and limited
The selection is very limited and the app constantly freezes or loads slow
Why so much clicking?
First you have to click on your profile. Then you have to click on your shelf. Then you have to click on the book. Then you click play. Developers: please put a “continue “ button on the first page so that I can easily just, you know, continue my book.
Unusable
After the app update, I am unable to log in. Won’t recognize my password. Tried calling my library and their tech support team couldn’t solve the problem either….
Sticking with Libby app, thanks for playing but not working so not going to try anymore
“Search” and “filter results” need improvement
Update from 2 to 3 stars. I read the Help guide for browsing and the instructions/diagrams were not accurate for Mobile devices. After snooping around I found where I could select language and categories. I have downloaded my first audio and hoping all goes well. Fingers crossed.
I downloaded this a.m. Unless I’m overlooking, there is no way to filter search results to a specific language or drill down into a specific genre. Once you search, it seems to be a “one and done” and parameters must be re-entered each time. I wish i knew several languages, but alas I do not. So to comb through books with titles I am unable to read is a waste of time. Hope this app improves. Until then, I will choose to use Libby for the majority of my reading/listening needs.
Unintuitive to point of nonfunction
100% of the apps I use are free, and even with this being the case, I have come to be spoiled by seamless functionality and usability. My Library suggested the Boundless app to me and I suggested to them to stop telling people that. In absence of a six page review, please download the Libby app and learn all you can. Libby is what I was expecting from this Boundless app. I was excited to download a app update today for Boundless, which did nothing to resolve any of the functionality and usability of the app. I spend more time trying to turn pages in my ebook than I do cleaning my house during the day.
Please go to Libby and steal all their code.
I will continue to check back in hopes that this app becomes more functional, but until then I will not be using it
