How much does Bridgefy cost?
Bridgefy has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 49.00 ₱.
I tested this app on two different devices running iOS 14.4, iPhone 8 and iPhone 12 Pro. In both devices it did not detect nearby devices that also have the app installed. All were at the “Broadcast” screen but no other BridgeFy users were detected.
It did not request to detect nearby devices in the local network, which may be the issue.
problem
cant add any contacts
Spammy app
A minefield of spammy ads and popups
Not accessible for ppl with disabilities or privacy, hard to delete account
Your app is ADA inaccessible. We don't want to have to sue or work in policy to overturn your ableism issue in allowing users to delete our accounts. It would be much easier on you to make it easier for us to delete our accounts. There are many more of us who can organize people power than there are you. If we don't successfully organize and change the law for ableist app companies to mine our data, we will certainly be able to organize to make your app harder for police, bad actors, domestic violence abusers, and workplace abusers to eavesdrop on our messages through your insecure app. Please consider doing the right thing. It's a lot easier. Thank you!
Ads make it useless
Popup ad are beyond annoying, and make app pointless.
Scam app
The app doesn’t work and the ad takes you to a website that will charge you $50 if you enter your cc info.
No notification when you receive a message
This app is basically useless. Yeah, it works when both you and the other person have the app open at the same time, but as soon as one of you switches to a different app or puts the phone in their pocket, messages are no longer delivered.
No notification on your phone when the other person texts you, and even if you manually open the app to check, you will NOT see the messages that the other person already sent, unless they happen to open the app at the same time as you. Only then will the apps sync any unsent messages between each other. But how likely is it that you will both open the app at the same time to check messages?
And yes, I checked that notifications were enabled both inside the app and in the iPhone settings, and I also made sure Background Refresh was enabled for the app, so that it can presumably receive messages in the background. It still didn't work.
Beware - Junk!
Watch out for ad (look for “AdChoices” logo icon in lower left of screen) that says “Activate” and ONLINEactivation. Not clear at all that this ad has any necessary function to the app. May be a scam like another reviewer has reported.
Also, this app does not work consistently when testing just 12 feet (3.67 meters) away from another person. Was hoping to use the app in case cell service was not available at a large public event or in emergencies. The app was making our phones hot and draining the battery quickly while testing the app. NOT the app you want in an emergency or for consistent reliable communication.
Security flaws
Have y'all uodated the security flaws that were found in two research studies from
a few years back? I'm thinking of using it at a protest but likely will stick to Signal until I get solid confirmation from y'all.
Incredible
All the bad reviews are people who don’t know the limitations of this app or have experienced bad bugs. It appears the major bugs have been fixed and it’s great using this app. Thank you so much!
